Lovely B & B
Fab stay- excellent value for money. Lovely old building, we stayed for one night last night. We arrived at approx. 12.30 and were allowed to check in early as our room was ready, which is excellent service. We stayed in room 2, on the ground floor, which was next to the front door, however, it did not cause us any problems. The room was large, was nicely decorated, in keeping with the property and had everything we needed for our stay. The bed was so comfortable, it swallowed us up when we laid on it. The bathroom was a nice size with a walk-in shower. The guy who checked us in was very helpful and gave us directions on how to get into Durham, which is a 10-15 minute walk downhill, which is quite steep in parts. We walked down and got a atxi back which cost £4.70. There are free parking spaces in the grounds and an Indian restaurant under the hotel. The breakfast was lovely and made to order. Would highly recommend.

Good 6.0
Stayed for one night when on business. Am used to staying in hotels but this was a different experience. When i arrived reception was just closing, probably my.fault for not realising it shut at half six, but had i not got there my key would have been elsewhere but i would not have known where to get it from. The place is very dated indeed. I asked for an iron and.board which would.normally be standard. The tv did not work on most channels and the bed was so soft it was.uncomfortable. On saying that the staff at breakfast were lovely and breakfast was good. Would i stay again though? No.sorry i.wouldn't

1 night in Durham
I struggled to find somewhere in Durham for just the 1 night which was reasonably priced, then found this place. It was ideal for what I wanted in between working days, in walking distance to the city centre. The room was clean, the hotel had character. There was no 'staff' on site after 6pm nor by the time I left , 0815 the following morning, other than those who had prepared and served breakfast, which was good by the way - nice choice too; there was a tel number though if people needed anything. My room was fine but the bathroom was tired and needed some attention - not the furniture (other than the stiff squeaky shower door) but the floor surface is coming away, finishing touches were poor - sit on the toilet and look around, you'll see what I mean. Also the TV - had BBC1, BBC2, and then Dave, but nothing else. That said, would I return? Yes!
