This is quite a charming hotel but we really did feel like we had stepped back in time. It’s all very dated in our opinion but I guess plenty of people don’t mind that. Here are a few of my comments about our stay.
Friendly check-in and check-out.
Room and bathroom spotlessly clean.
Very good lighting for a hotel.
Hospitality tray included biscuits.
Comfortable bed (small double).
Power points near mirror.
Toiletries provided (inc bath salts?!)
Sheets and blankets – what’s that all about? I pulled back the counterpane/bedspread to find small blood stains on the underside, so I rang and asked for a clean one. We were brought instead a clean blanket which when we unfolded it crackled with so much static, that had it been dark there would have been a light show. I was assured the blankets are washed between guests.
The bath towels were quite small and worn out with frayed edges.
The shower was an electric one. Temperature hard to regulate.
Radiator made a soft knocking noise when heating came on.
There was a selection of cereals on each breakfast table, together with orange juice. No buffet table with yoghurts and fruit etc. Nice breakfast menu. We were the only ones in the dining room and waited 10 mins or so before ringing the bell for service as we were in a hurry to get away, but breakfast arrived promptly and was quite nice.
We probably wouldn’t stay here again, unless the hotel switched to duvets.
