Draycote Hotel
Dreadful excuse for a double bed - see photos
I'm not a fan of twin beds joined together to make a 'double' but Draycote Hotel takes this to a whole new level of awfulness. Two single beds, not even the same height or type pushed together, with single thin foam mattresses placed on top. One side was higher than the other, creating a visible slope between the 2 sides. One bed creaked so loudly I could not have slept on it, the other side luckily wasn't too bad and I was so exhausted after a long journey that I did manage to sleep on that side. The foam coverings didn't even align to the sides of the beds underneath, and it looked as if the whole set-up had been put together with offerings from the local furniture recycling project - see photos! The room itself was ok, but with the feeling of a budget hostel, and as I arrived late on a December night it would have been nice to find the heating already on, as it was pretty cold at first. Cleaning could be better - dead fly and dust in the corners, dirty tea spoons for tea-making. The '24 hour' check-in was being manned by the security guard when I arrived at 11.30pm - he was pleasant and friendly but struggled with the hotel's computer system, meaning it took 25 minutes to check me in, which I could have done without after a long drive. Location was convenient for some business I had to do locally the next day but I would not stay here again.

Basic Hotel
Rude & Arrogant reception staff, otherwise stay OK although the hotel is very basic / old fashioned. Pet hate is when hotels advertise a king size bed that is just two singles crudely pushed together.

rugby visit
every thing was fine except restaurant. they said they had a gluten free menu but I had to ask for them to check and then recheck what I could eat. then I was ill through eating something on the menu which I was told I could eat but it had wheat in it. was ill for a week after that meal. every thing else was brilliant. staff at desk very helpful.
