Peace and quiet in rural Northumberland
Lovely farmhouse in a beautiful rural setting. Very peaceful and wonderful hosts. Bedroom was large, with a very comfortable bed and good sized shower room. The remote setting may not be to everyone's liking, but to use as a base for visiting the beautiful Northumberland countryside, it was perfect for me.

One to avoid!
Unfriendly welcome, verging on aggressive ?? "Demanded" we book breakfast while still on the doorstep?? Room clean. Bathroom: one hand towel, one glass, one bath robe? Room not made up next day. bins not emptied, bed not made, "single" hand towel not replaced. The owners' cool, unfriendly manner towards us continued throughout our stay. Why? We couldn't figure the whole thing out! No menu at breakfast? Asked, "what do you want" before we even sat down! My wife doesn't drink milk and asked for water for her cereal. The woman scoffed, "Oh, how awful - never heard of that one, eating cereal with water!" in front of other guests - who all raised an eyebrow! 5 star! I don't think so! Never ever experienced such an attitude in many years of travelling. Most upsetting while celebrating our wedding anniversary. Would definitely not recommend this place.

A brilliant base for exploring the Borders and north Northumberland. Peter and Shiela are wonderful hosts. Rooms are comfortable and the beds,softish, but give a good nights sleep. Breakfast deserves its reputation!! We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay.
