Great place to stay, eat elsewhere
The hotel was pleasant and the room was spacious. There were no glasses provided in the bathroom and the extractor fan was very dirty. There was also no shower mat provided. The staff were friendly and polite, very helpful. The food quality in the restaurant was sufficient for an evening meal, basic microwave type pub grub, however the breakfast was very poor, eggs benedict bland and on soggy toast. Asked for orange juice and we were given squash, this is not acceptable.

Bizarre
This was a very strange hotel stay! All of the staff were dressed very casually. So much so it was difficult to know who was a staff member. When we went for breakfast, some guy asked if we were okay and needed anything. He was wearing a tracksuit and watching football! The breakfast the worst I'd ever seen - went to Greggs instead! Main reception staff friendly enough but also super casual. Just a very bizarre place. Room size and bed comfy, but would not stay again.

What a Wonderful Stay!
What a wonderful stay! We came from Canada for my wife's niece's wedding and stayed three nights here. It's a small, family owned and run establishment and that definitely shows in the personal touches that are abundant. If you're looking for all of the bells and whistles of a $500 a night Marriot, this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a nice affordable place to stay, with a decent restaurant that provides great food and drinks, in great serving sizes, for a very affordable rate, then I don't think you could find much better on the island of Portland. Upon our arrival, the owner of the property almost immediately offered us a free upgrade to the best room in the hotel to try and make the stay more comfortable for my wife who has a disability. She was always there to offer help with questions about the area, call us a cab when we needed it- you name it. Honestly, it was one of the nicest parts of our two week trip and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for anyone staying on the island of Portland. Thank you again so very much for your kindness during our stay, and making our trip that much more memorable!
