Room was a little snug - it’s an old building tastefullly modified though - nice view over gardens. Very good amenities and friendly welcome. Happy for us to leave bags pre and post check in so very convenient. 10 min walk from city centre - very clean - tea coffee biscuits replenished daily - fridge and safe in room - ample continental breakfast

Such a wonderful host. She made us feel very welcome. Gave us lots of tips on things to do in Edinburgh in the short time we had. The room was a bit small, but none the less very comfortable with all the essentials. Extremely clean guest house. The continental breakfast was amazing. So much choice.

We stayed at this lovely b and b for a family trip to Edinburgh. Host was GREAT and approachable and gave good advice on places to go, and how to use local bus service. Location perfect as you could walk into the centre, but also a bus stop just outside. Family room was nice size, and whole place very clean. Breakfast was nice too. Overall a great place and would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed the host, she was very welcoming and the house was comfortable overall. The bathroom was very nice, just the bed was a bit hard. The house is in a pretty good location, walkable to everything downtown Edinburgh has to offer.

Vivienne - the owner of Sherwood House went out of her way to make us welcome, giving advice on the best restaurants in the area and helping with other arrangements. The quality of the furnishings are exceptional and she has put so much thought into making sure that all a guests needs are met. Even an ironing board , hot chocolates , sweets, hairdryer and lovely shampoos etc. The breakfast was continental but the range of fruit, meats , jams etc were very good - and served in a lovely breakfast room. Should our daughter decide to go to Edinburgh uni - which is why we were visiting - we would not hesitate to make Sherwood House our place to stay when we visit.
