Lovely hotel and staff, but bar too crowded
Lovely hotel and v.friendly staff with terrific service. The reception staff made us feel very welcome on check-in and arranged some nice little touches as it was our anniversary. Only issue to note during our stay was the Aviary bar. While we knew it was open to the public and likely to be busy, the rooftop bar was a reason behind choosing the Royal London House hotel. We had a drink inside the bar but were told we had to give up our seats at 4pm because they were reserved for a function. By that time all the seating inside the bar had been reserved for different companies having after work functions leaving no seats for other customers, including residents which isn't really acceptable (the only option was to stand at the bar). Equally, after eating in the Aviary restaurant, quite a lot of the outside bar area was cordoned off for private functions meaning the available space was v.crowded. Again, while we'd expected that to a degree more consideration/provision should be made to residents given they are paying to stay in a 5* hotel. We had a club room and the lounge that provided access to was great for complimentary nibbles and a good range of drinks plus continental breakfast. That was fine for our needs but a few guests were confused as expected a cooked breakfast that was an extra and served elsewhere. That wasn't made very clear when booking or at the hotel itself so possibly could be more explicit.

Exceptional 10.0
Stayed in Montcalm hotels before but this was just amazing. Staff can’t do enough to help you. Always polite & welcoming In our room, the carpet had begun to come away from the runner between the bedroom & bathroom. However, this wasn’t at all noticeable and I only knew because silly me tripped over on it My partner went and spoke to reception and within minutes, a maintenance man was sent to assess it, deemed it a hazard and we were given a new room and a complimentary breakfast. Which by the way, was absolutely delicious When we checked out the following day, we were advised the manager wanted to speak with us. A lovely lady came over and wanted to meet us simply to reiterate their apology. My new go to hotel for staying in London!

Pleasant stay in a convenient location
As soon as you walk in to the lobby, you are greeted by its incredible decor. We were offered complimentary glasses of fizz on arrival however this was slightly subsided by the fact the receptionist struggled to find our reservation even after handing my phone to her! We were placed on the 9th floor and as we were celebrating our anniversary, we were told we would be receiving some ‘amenities’ which was a plate of a lovely dessert to share. Our room was very clean and spacious and we quickly realised that the door to the adjoining room had been left open. We contacted reception to check whether or not this was done on purpose and requested it to stay open but the found later it had been closed. Bed was extremely comfortable and I really liked the designer toiletries. We visited the Aviary rooftop bar and was astounded by its stunning views! Really lovely bar with friendly and approachable staff. Upon checkout, we were greeted by one of the managers who explained we had been placed in a family suite and that as the room was being unused, it was ours to use should we wanted. Unfortunately that wasn’t made clear but we know for next time! Location was handy and very quiet but close to several stations but also a few sights. Only niggle we would have is that in the room there is a really high tech light control panel which was cool but not so much in the dark when you’re trying to sleep and it’s shining in your face!

This hotel is amazing!
AMAZING! Staff are brilliant, they can’t do enough to help you and when I say it was incredible I really mean INCREDIBLE. There is Continental breakfast served every morning in the aviary over looking the London skyline, gorgeous rooftop bar and even a sports bar downstairs they have a few games around as well. Spa and swimming pool are lovely. Great location with two tube stops close by. Rooms are stunning and oh my god the beds! So comfortable. It was our first wedding anniversary and it’s going to take some beating!

Superb hotel on quiet square corner. amazing!!
Booked the Aviary palm room for my 40th birthday and my friends and family from overseas stayed at the Montcalm. What a fantastic place! All the staff was so helpful and friendly. made sure all my guests were at the same floor and well looked after, even threw in a free upgrade!!! I cant recommend this place enough. Amazing food in the aviary should you choose to eat there. Fantastic views across london!!! Then you have Burdock on the ground floor. Great place for breakfast, again staff very attentive, helpful and friendly. All my guests had large smiles on their faces and big thumbs up when they departed on the Sunday and a few die-hard west-london more traditional hotel minded friends of mine were converted. "Defintively definitively staying at the Montcalm next time!!" The value you get for your money here if you book early is not comparable i think. It wasn't that far off from the travellodge prices around the corner. You're central to shoreditch with all the bars/cafes. From my parents perspective in their 70's now they really loved the place, and the fact its in a business/office area means its less busy on the weekends. As its in a corner of finsbury square as well there is no traffic outside like many other hotels in london, and the sound insulation, even if it was probably not needed, the best i've seen. you couldn't hear a thing.
