Wonderful but very different for Charleston
This is a super different look for Charleston -- before you book here, be sure you are comfortable with mid-century modern decor. This aesthetic drives the entire establishment. The Dewberry is a service-driven hotel, so we were extremely well taken care of. The design is brilliant. The staff is phenomenal. The space itself is really lovely -- though, again, definitely mid-century modern so not necessarily warm and cozy looking, despite the very real comforts. We had drinks at the bar downstairs as well as the rooftop bar. They were fabulous and the snacks we had were perfect, too. Pricey, but not overpriced. The British bartender in the Living Room was a little snippy with us and could have been more welcoming, but the cute waitperson with the fab red hair and cut was lovely. Service on the roof was impeccable. Room was well-appointed with luscious linens. But the lack of art bothered me and -- a fallout of the design is that this design era is also what produced Howard Johnsons and Holiday Inns so, for those of us over 50, it reminded us of that mass-produced sterility. There is nothing wrong with that -- it's a taste thing that just happened to bug us. The one problem with the room was that, even though we were on the end of a hallway, we still heard every conversation on the hall. So yes, it's really a fabulous but very different addition to the Charleston hotel and restaurant scene. Fab location, too. Just not typical Charleston. No self parking - $35/day valet.

Very good 8.0
Fabulous except for noise!
Dewberry was fabulous! My only major concern were the walls were so thin! I could hear people turning on and off their lights (granted they are wall sconces) and opening drawers constantly throughout our stay. I also think because we were on the 7th floor and possible below the rooftop bar on the 8th, I could hear furniture being moved around above us. Besides the noise, fabulous and beautiful hotel.

Top notch service!
The staff is amazing. The house car was always available and willing to take us any distance. Our room was beautiful and clean. Housekeeping was fantastic. No request was turned down and I’m hard to please.
