Perfect
Everyone was very courteous. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends traveling to charleston. The citrus room had an amazing ambiance. Even the gentleman that was in charge of access to the citrus room was extremely professional.

Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Great view from the room. Tried to order room service, but was unable. They apparently changed some of the times that you could get roomservice, but the paperwork in the room did not reflect the changes. A little disappointing for how much the room cost. Would probably try a different hotel the next time I’m in town.

Low End Luxury
Movies and TV shows have given me a certain expectation when it comes to “southern charm” and as an overall experience the Dewberry fell flat. Situated steps away from the heart of it all, the location is great and allows you to easily access all of Charleston. The building and decor feel a bit dated and the little touches that had been overlooked really stood out to me. For example, the water plaque in our shower was upside down which led to some initial confusion. Finally, the staff, for the most part, acted put upon with nearly any request and one snapped at me being barefoot on the roof deck. I’d definitely go back to Charleston again, but I’m not sure I’d call the Dewberry home a second time around.

Something left to desire
The hotel when you walk in is beautiful, and staff was very friendly. When we got to our room is was smaller than we thought through the pictures posted online. There is a narrow pathway between the beds and furniture especially if you have one of the grand queens. We had to carefully maneuver around each other to get ready; which wasn't pleasant. The mini fridge that had the drinks in it was hardly even cold, and it was hard to find the complimentary water that was offered with the room. ( what they should have done was fill the mini fridge with half of the complimentary water so at least it was cold) The first day was kinda a mess; we came back after our first full day expecting that house keeping would come refresh our towels and sheets. It was already 5pm and we called up front to see if house keeping was still available... they weren't. So they had us move rooms to one that had towels replenished; which was a pain. The beds were comfy but the down comforters in the summer were too hot to really use compared to the AC only going down to 68 degrees ( which didn't feel that cool). Me and my family woke up several times in the middle of the night overheated. The lamps next to the bed got extremely hot to the touch! The shower was nice, but the toilet and toilet paper was very cheap for an upscale hotel. The marble is nice in the bathroom, but was extremely slippery. The windows in our room were also pretty dirty and smudged for a room that was supposed to have a "view".
