From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming and helpful. The Rufus Suite was beautiful and spacious. The breakfast was delicious. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. A gorgeous hotel in a fantastic location for exploring the new forest. Despite being in a very central location, the hotel itself is very quiet and a perfect place to relax - cocktails during happy hour in the garden was a real highlight! Our room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed - the only complaint would be that, being an older building, you can hear every creaky floorboard etc. and we did experience a lot of noise from the room above which would not be ideal for light sleepers. Breakfast in the morning was well stocked/serviced and all very tasty. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again on our next trip to the area.

We had a good stay in a deluxe King Room. There was no a/c or fridge in the room which on such a hot day and night was very much missed. The last time we stayed (some decades ago) the breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Now it is a buffet affair which can never be as good. That said - the quality of the buffet was one of the best we have had. The service at breakfast was also very good. The bacon sausages and eggs were of a high quality.............the coffee however was dreadful..........very bitter. The fresh juices were at room temperature - which on a hot summers day is far from ideal. I don't want ice placed in my fruit juice - but there must be solutions to serving tepid juices that don't involve putting ice in them. Overall, we had a good stay and would definitely consider staying here again. We learnt that some rooms do have a/c so would seek them out in future.

Veryy nice hotel. You check in in the middle of English countryside, and the staff is like in a 5-star hotel in New York or Singapore. The building is like you can expect in England, a bit worn down, with the stairs making a sound when you’re going up. The you get to the room. Room is a standard, high end / old English hotel room. Then you go to the bathroom. That’s again the 5-star hotel in Singapore! If you are planning to stay in Southampton, but are willing to go with the 20-30 minute drive, ther definitely choose this hotel. Very nice experience. On top of everything else, there is a Ferrari dealership just a couple of minutes of walking away, so If you have the budget, you’ll definitely get a aouvetthat you won’t get from anywhere else…
