The hotel was advertised as having free parking. Upon my arrival, all four of the free spaces on their driveway were taken. I was told, after having called the hotel five times, to find somewhere on the street to park. My room was tiny. Admittedly it was a single room but it was very small. The bathroom was fine and the wifi was excellent. The in room facilities are basic (two tea bags and two sachets of coffee). The mattress was not great. I paid in advance for the continental breakfast. It was definitely not worth the money and was a miserable offering. In short, I booked this as it was cheaper than the one I had previously stayed in in Clifton. However, when I return to Bristol, I will be going back to the original hotel. I would prefer to pay a little more and have more luxury than a hotel which is very basic in my opinion.

Convenient location. Small room
Booked The Regency for one night mainly because of its convenience and location. It is within walking distance of Clifton Village and the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Also close to the University and the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. City Centre, Floating Harbour and Durdham Downs are about 15 minutes walk away. The Regency is several houses merged together to make the hotel. It still has the features of the original houses. Our room (supposedly a double room) was tiny and we could only just about move around the bed. The bathroom was also tiny with a shower and micro wash hand basin. Comfort wise, we could have done with some extra pillows on the bed. Everything was very clean. Our room was at the top of the building and so we had to negotiate four flights of stairs. Unfortunately, we found the place quite noisy. Our room looked out onto the back of the hotel where there was a bar area. There seemed to be a lot of excited youngsters with loud voices in groups outside (maybe not in the bar) and this went on until 1am. Then some other guests in the hotel returned to their rooms at about 1:30am and all the doors (room doors and fire doors) seemed to bang loudly. Parking is a problem in the hotel area. The hotel only has space for about four guest cars parked at the front. The area is a CPZ (Community Parking Zone) and so care has to be taken to ensure that parking penalties are not incurred. Reception desk staff were very friendly and welcoming.
