The Elphinstone Hotel
Great customer service!
We were staying for 2 nights in the Elphinstone hotel. It's a really nice old style hotel with a warm friendly welcome. However on the first night I didn't sleep very well due to an issue with the bed. I spoke with the manageress the following morning and explained the issue. She was really helpful and immediately showed us some alternative rooms for us to choose from. We were really happy with helpful and friendly the staff were and would definitely stay there again if we are ever in the area.

Good do beter
Had booked a large double but was given a small double next to a function room with a function planned that evening although there was plenty of empty rooms in newer part of hotel away from function room including the room that was originally booked. Bad planning and little consideration given to customer at time of collecting key at reception.

Anywhere but the Elphinstone, Biggar
The bed had a matress on that was wider than the bed, so when you got out you were ejected onto the floor. The room was very very cold when we arrived, just putting heat on low would have sensible. The general hotel carpets etc was very tired. I paid £89 it should have been £59 at the most. I laughed, everywhere I have stayed from Lagos to Porto Rico to Sweden to Russia to S Africa to France to Italy plus hundreds of hotels in the UK, I have always been asked 'was everythingf OK' but not here, I think they new the answer. It is a shame because Biggar is a up market town & for that price it should have been top hole.

Booked in for family party, room ok , a tad expensive for what we got . But not much choice in this area ... no complaints..

Business Overnight Stay
As an overnight stay during a business trip, I arrived late and did not review room facilities before going to sleep. Woke up to have a shower in the morning to find no soap, handwash, showgel or any other materials in place to have a shower. Also when I left the hotel VERY early in the morning (5-30am) to continue my business trip, I found it VERY VERY difficult to exit the hotel. No light whatsoever to open doors and aid exit. I would however recommend the hotel and stay there in the future..(this was a minor hiccup and hopefully seen as possible feedback to improve)
