Interesting historical visit
Lancaster is a beautiful city with a nightmare one way system. The signage is poor and we found the Castle nearly impossible to find. Despite this, the Wagon and Horses is located in a quiet and easily found area with lovely views from the frontage. The weather was not good but all in all the welcome made up for this and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. I would like to thank the host and hostess for their kindness and how helpful they both were throughout our stay. Also the bar staff who only had to see me arrive and the lift door would be opened immediately. I should add, a lift is essential for bedrooms upstairs

Highly recommended.
A lovely stay from start to finish. The staff were very pleasant and we felt welcome. The room was comfortable and clean and a comprehensive refreshment tray was provided. We had our evening meal on the premises and the quality and choice was excellent. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Wagon and Horses to friends and family.

Friendly people in Lancaster
Very friendly welcome and no pressure on the admin side of our booking. Easy walking distance from the railway station and good footpath walks along the riverside to wind down in the evening. Nice walk into the city centre too. The room was fairly compact but good clean facilities. Only problem seemed to be viewing the TV. Due to the position fixed up high on the wall it gave a dark viewing of the screen. Busy little road outside in the morning but due to building works further along the river rather than commuter cars and buses! Well worth staying there .... good real ale too!

Good place for an overnight stop.
Absolutely fine. Very helpful and sociable staff. Parking is limited but if you arrive before 6 you should be lucky. 3hr parking outside gives you till 11am. All very efficiently organised. Breakfast was really good and served so quickly. Could not have been better, good clean tidy pub. Room slightly small but adequate fairly priced for the size.

Lovely pub hotel
This pub hotel was lovely. The pub area very nice serving a selection of real ales. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Car parking is on a public car park a little further down the road.It is free with a £20 refundable deposit. The room was decent size very clean and enough storage space beds comfy, fluffy towels. It was a very warm day/evening so the room was very warm, the tower fan was way too noisy in the middle of the night and had to switch it off soon after we put it on and just keep the window open, this was fine but as our room was over the kitchen the noise from the extractor fan started early! So we had little sleep, in a previous review someone said avoid room 6, this was were we were! Breakfast was nice with good sized portions. We did think breakfast was rather early on a weekend 8.30-9am when checkout was at 11am. Although there was a few negative points this is a very nice place to stay and would certainly recommend to others.
