Lemon Tree Premier, Delhi Airport

Friendly but dated
The staff are truly awesome - they are friendly, happy and ready to help. Also the hotel employs hearing and speech impaired staff which is a very good thing. However, the building badly needs refurbishment. It probably was built around the time the airport was inaugurated - maybe 2010. I doubt if anything was done since - the rooms are dull, the bathrooms are basic, and the restaurant looks boring. Citrus is a mess but the Republic of noodles was better and the food there was tasty. For the £ I paid it should have been better and I think continuing to have the word "Premier" in the name is insincere. It's really a shame because the staff is great and the location allows lots of travellers to stay before and after a flight.

Very Good8.0
An effecient and cost effective product.
I have stayed with Lemon Tree in Bangalore so was expecting a good stay. The hotel is in Aero City, Delhi, and the reason to stay was to catch the flight out the next day thus missing the huge traffic swell if I had stayed in more central Delhi. This worked very well. Other people had just arrived from elsewhere and were overnighting before heading "into India". The company has an unusual and first class programme to employ disabled folk and I was very impressed by this. In general staff excellent. My requested bed was a Queen size and they do not sell that size of bed I was told so I had to make do with a single. I had prepaid for my evening meal and when I went to eat I was informed I could only have the buffet. This was quite tired looking and I would have preferred the a la carte with my pre-payment meeting a certain amount of the bill ...but not "allowed". So, a couple of things to sort out between Hotels.Com and Lemon Tree but otherwise an efficient and cost effective product.

Overnight in Delhi
Very nice hotel; new, clean, functional. Not great location if you need the city every day or want non-hotel restaurant, but I only stayed one night & left my luggage there while I went up north for the day. Helpful staff. Decent breakfast (with proper pork bacon, not turkey). Didn't get to try restaurant or bar through late arrival.

Nothing to write home about
Woken by phone call at 11.35pm to be told my visa had expired. Explained it hadn't. Person at other end insisted it had. I said I''ll show passport and visa next morning. 10 mins later flunky knows on door demaing my passport. Told him politely to get lost. After that couldn't get back to sleep because banging doors, footsteps on marble corridor and some aircraft noise. Food bland, selection poor. Never got an omelet I ordered. Drink prices were outrageous £8.50 for small beer. Seems reception forgot to photocopy entry stamp in my passport as required by law. After insisting I saw manager I was given free taxi to airport. Only positive is the Hotel employed mute and deaf staff -absolutely true -who gave excellent cheerful service.

OK place to kill a few hours before a flight
The hotel is a few minutes by taxi to the airport. The traffic in Delhi is terrible with really unpredictable journey times. So I booked this hotel for somewhere to stay for 5 or 6 hours before my flight home. The hotel is just off the main road into the airport - convenient but nothing else. Don't stay here for the sightseeing! The hotel has large efficient lobby with a well staffed reception and the usual array of security, door openers and bag carriers. The hotel has an array of restaurants situated around a large courtyard behind reception lobby. The one I ate at was very reasonable. It had the usual hotel hot buffet but also an extensive A La Carte menu including Indian, Asian and Western style food. The service was very good but the food took quite some time to appear. But overall it was far better than Airport food. The hotel room was tiny. A single bed; a tiny desk and a chair. The bathroom was simlarly tiny. This is not somewhere I would choose to stay for leisure but as a staging post en route to the airport, it was perfectly adequate. The only real complaint is that the room I had was too near lots of plant equipment that made far too much noise, so sleeping was a problem. I checked out at 2:30am for my flight, reception was still well manned and taxis were readily available. Seems Delhi never sleeps!
