Thieves Liars Fraudulent hotel
To whom it may concern, Upon arrival at the hotel on , I was told that I had two bookings; at this point I explained that this was an error on Expedia’s behalf as well as the situation at hand. I was firstly told that the manager was too busy to see me and that I would be contacted either in person or via email, before leaving the hotel to confirm that the charge for the other room would be removed as it was not my fault. On checking out, I specifically enquired about the matter, given that I had not been contacted at all; I was told by the receptionist Feyza ( REMEMBER HER NAME !!!!!)that the issue had been resolved and that I would not be charged for the other room. After leaving the country couple days later , I have now seen that the charge has still been discounted from my account. I think it is clear to understand the breach of security policy, considering that Feyza told me I would not be charged but continued to do so when I was now, no longer present. I believe this is also fraud There are thieves guys They’ll over over charge you if you Mr not careful

Overall it is a nice, clean place with great staff. The gentleman in the restaurant is so great! He seems to love his job and is a breath of fresh air in the morning. You should know that the general rooms are on the ground floor and there is no window or door you can open for fresh air. Also, at night you have to keep the drapes closed, if you don't want everyone walking by to see you. If you want to spend a few night in a well appointed, dark closet, these rooms are for you. I MUST have fresh air, so I moved to the penthouse the second night, it was wonderful. Also, considering how expensive the rooms are, the bath towels are ridiculous. They are very thin and small and old. For some reason, the hotel doesn't provide any hand towels...that I don't understand. Overall, I think the price is way to high for the room and that the staff is exceptional.

Small rooms, inconvenient set up & not very clean
It may just be because we stayed in a very nice hotel prior to the Grand Hotel Downtown, but we found this hotel to be very mediocre. The rooms are very, very small and have a poor set up. The shower door swings both inwards and outwards and the seal was coming off, so it was a flood anytime someone took a shower. They do not have very high standards for cleanliness (we read some bad reviews before but thought that maybe they were just one offs - we were very wrong). The toilet had what looked like bits of vomit around the outside and the bed runner had something gross and crusty on it. Do not take your shoes off to walk around the room - there's a good chance the floors haven't been cleaned in a long time. The walls are also very thin and you can hear everything going on around outside the room and next door. On the positive, the front staff who checked us in/out were very friendly and even though we were early for check in they offered to hold our bags (they even offered to hold them when we checked out if our other hotel wasn't ready yet). Overall, would not book here again. We got the room at a discounted rate off Expedia and decided to book based on number of stars and rate, but certainly wouldn't go back, especially with all the other options around Amsterdam. Should be more of a 2.5-3 star hotel, not a 4 star.

It is very much a self service type of place. No bar so if you want snacks & drinks in room you go to the supermarket which is only about 50 yards away. We had room 612, penthouse as shown in main advertising. Not a big room but that pretty much goes for all of Amsterdam. The room itself was lovely, very comfortable memory foam mattress. Bathroom with walk in shower, good water pressure. Toiletries renewed daily. Ours was a corner balcony. We didn't use it much as weather was foggy in the mornings and wet in the evenings or we were just too tired! One thing we did notice on our final morning was dried blood on the bed sheet. I know the sheets were not changed daily as I remember commenting how they weren't made very well. Lift the duvet and the sheet was still a bit crumpled underneath, only minorly but I would have expected clean and straight and tight bedding. Breakfast is buffet style and has all you need from continental to english style. The people at the desk were very friendly and efficient. Any questions they were more happy to assist. This hotel is approximately 12 minutes from the city centre by tram (number 17), with a 2 minute walk from tram to hotel. Which is perfect if you want to stay away from the centre, but yet be close. The trams run every few minutes so no waiting for too long. It is a lovely quiet area, yet does have a number of shops , restaurants and bars nearby. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Lovely hotel, nice location.
Staff were lovely & welcoming & helpful, all bar 1 man whocouldn't really be bothered with us. Ground floor, quite alot of street noise, so if you are a light sleeper it won't be for you. Room was small, but ample. Would have been nice for a little more hanging space, as there is no iron, didn't affect me with jeggings & jumpers, my partner just had creased shirts & jeans. Lovely shower, but couldn't have it on full because bathroom flooded. If you run sink for more than a minute it filled up and took ages to empty. The seal on bottom of shower was brown & looked like it needed replacing! There was ALOT of dust down side of bed, had to pull cabinet out when I dropped my map down there. There are alot of cheaper options to stay in, so i paid extra expecting something a little cleaner. But I guess unless you look, you don't notice. I loved that we had slippers- very nice touch! & robes. Little fridge too which was very handy. Clean towels daily & bed remade- not changed though. I wouldn't change mine daily, in other hotels it is common practise to change the sheets, this didn't bother us- but some it might. I did complain about noisy neighbors music; But to be fair, it probably wasn't loud, you can hear everything, I heard everytime one of the rooms near us went in or out. Would stay again, but possibly would look for closer to central Amsterdam, I would love to try the penthouse, but its expensive. This is a good hotel for reasonable price. Could be better, could be worse.
