Exceptional 10.0
Wonderful staff-honest & kind, excellent location
I would like to thank the hotel staff for their excellent service. All the staff are absolutely lovely and are always willing to help. First, the hotel is in an “excellent location”. If you plan to take the bus tour, which is very good, the stop is just across the street. If you plan to take the tram, it stops right in front of the hotel. the castle is literally 10-15 minutes walk and the sea/commercial square is the same. Lovely breakfast and the staff let us sit even though we entered the restaurant at 10, which is when breakfast ends, and the price we paid was very reasonable as well. The ladies and gentlemen at reception are very helpful and always give good advice in terms of where is safe to go and how much to pay for things. They also gave us a bigger room when they realised we had a child with us (an additional member on very short notice). Most importantly, they were extremely helpful when I forgot an expensive pair of earrings, that is a very dear gift from my parents, in the room before checking out. The very carefully wrapped it up and forwarded to me via courier as I requested. I can’t thank them enough for their honesty and they co-operation and kindness. Looking forward to coming back soon. Lisbon is lovely!

Exceptional 10.0
We really enjoyed our stay at this small Beautique hotel. The desk staff was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Very funky design and decor took a bit of getting used to as it is very dark and stark looking, but it grows on you. The only negative would be that the bathroom is quite poorly lit and the dark green glass walls didn’t help either, so doing your makeup in the morning was a challenge. Other than that, the room was lovely and the fig tree design throughout the hotel was pretty and different. The rooms were spotlessly clean and housekeeping staff was right on top of getting your room made up every morning. The breakfast buffet was very good and had American and European options. The hotel has a lovely restaurant with an outdoor patio which we dined at and had a delicious Portuguese Seafood Stew. Their tapas was also very good. The hotel is on a nice square with buses and Hop On Hop Off stops, so transportation is right there and many of the main squares and shopping areas are close walking distance. There was a small Mercado on the square when we were there which was really nice. All in all a very unique and enjoyable little hotel.

Very good 8.0
Lovely hotel, excellent location! We lovel Lisbon!
The hotel is superbly situated a short walk away from most of the lovely sights Lisbon has to offer. Transport literally on the doorstep! A well-decorated hotel, albeit a tad peculiar, we found it to be very relaxing. Excellent bed and linen, spacious and light room with a view of the Praça Figuiera - the only minor drawbacks were the shower/bathroom which could have been a bit bigger and the wardrobe which had two shelves you couldn't use because they were totally inaccessible. The hotel looked spotless and always smelt lovely, although we did notice that the cleaners didn't dust down the furniture every day which would have been a good idea because the dark furniture shows every speck or clean behind the bathroom door! The hotel staff was very polite and helpful! Free Wifi, domotic gadgets, free minibar and coffee machine! We didn't get the chance to use the intimate spa area - maybe next time! Travellers to Lisbon should take a good pair of walking shoes and avoid heels! Narrow, cobbled, winding, steep streets with lots of steps everywhere! Not pushchair or wheelchair friendly. Remember to go to Belem and Sintra, absolutely breathtaking! Portuguese restaurants offer great value home cooked meals which are extremely affordable!

Remember your torch or flashlight
The hotel is nicely situated fairly close to the shopping area of town. Plenty of restaurants around, buses, taxi's, trams and tuk-tuks. However the hotel is very Dark. The decor can only be described as "organic" with the majority of the walls curved. The front walls of the restaurant are just plain block , as if they forgot to finish them off, all the rest of the walls are covered in a very dark charcoal coloured covering that seemed metallic. The room was small and extremely dark, even with the curtains open and the blind up it was dark. If you are a visitor and you have an adapter plug to run an electrical appliance with for instance a UK plug, you cannot run it from the only plug available , on the table. You have to unplug the light in the entrance hall and use that plug. Tha bathroom is all glass and mirrors. and very dark. The light by the mirror above the sink is the only place you can use to put on make up or do your hair as that is the only one light enough to see with. Having a shower with a full length mirror in front of you is disconcerting but a great diet aid! An "interesting" hotel but not one I will return to. I am sure it is much loved by many , but it was just too dark for me.

Hotel overbooked and tried to kick us out!
This is one of the most frustrating stay I have ever had in my life. I had booked the hotel 2-3 months prior to my trip on, fully-paid, non-refundable. Had high hopes based on the reviews on location and service. Good hunch also because the hotel kept sending me email to update them on my arrival time to prepare. LITTLE DID I KNOW! When we go into the hotel, they asked for our passports and said they had something to tell us, which was THEY MADE A MISTAKE AND THEY DID NOT HAVE A ROOM FOR US. I paid and received confirmations before, I insisted. However, they claimed their sales manager had made a mistake and all 50 rooms were taken up! They said they had to send us away to somewhere else. I had friends from 14-hours away to call and stood there at the front desk disputing for the ridiculous treatment. After 4 long hours of fighting through overseas and local friends, I finally got a room. THIS HOTEL OVERBOOKS, HOTEL.COM should ban it from the search or penalize it and travelers out there, WATCH OUT.
