best not to stay if there is an event going on as the noise does flow through the whole hotel so no chance of sleep until midnight.

Lovely place with little niggles
This hotel is a lovely place. So much character and the decor is lovely. Overall I did enjoy my stay at the Broadoak but I have a few issues for people to note! But first some Positives: Friendly manager who goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Room (No 8) was clean, tidy and very welcoming. Heating worked perfectly. All the other amenities were available in the room. The hotel is very easy to find but leads me onto t couple of things to improve: First of all the car parking. The car park was full when I arrived, 5pm, so I had to park on the street initially. There was a function going on, so might be more busy than usual. There is no overflow. The restaurant is part of the main bar separated by a screen, I didn't mind this, as there were plenty of staff around to help. A young lady served me and didnt know much about the food or Ale on offer and had to ask a more senior member (only training I think). Food was nice, and reasonably priced. My only (minor) gripe was that instead of bringing me a jug of water or a bottle, I had to ask 6 times for table water which came in a glass. Now the worst part about my stay was at breakfast. Sunday breakfast time starts at 8am, which is fine, but the tables were not set, there was no cereals, juice, yogurts etc out. At 8.10 am I asked the waitress if we had to order coffee and food. At this time I had cutlery and I ordered coffee and scrambled egg. (I was in a rush!) Apart from this I enjoyed my stay. I would stay again.

Lovely hotel and pub!
Lovely pub/hotel, only 7 rooms but no creaky floors or awkwardness with it being small! Check in was easy, nice rooms including biscuits and water :) and a comfy bed. Great breakfast in the morning cooked to order - just missing baked beans!

I wasn't sure on first appearance however got a very warm welcome. Room was excellent, large, modern looking, clean. Bed was comfy and shower hot. The food was excellent as again was the service I was given - genuine smiles and the personal feel not shown in larger hotels. Overall I'd stay again without hesitation. Can't comment on the local area as didn't go out. Parking was for around 20 cars so may be limited, but I didn't have any issues. The other people eating were a mixture of business type people and local people (who clearly visited regularly)
