Comfortable and enjoyable
Hotel interior was lovely, spacious and room was very comfortable. Located quite centrally to the main restaurants and attractions. Staff were friendly and helpful

Okay but could be outstanding
Beautiful old style building, myself and friends stayed in one of the villas with a jacuzzi. However, the jacuzzi didn’t work properly, and we also were left without any water supply on more than one occasion. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and keen to help, and overall we enjoyed our stay, but the hotel could definitely do with some investment to maintain what could be an incredible place to stay.

Overpriced. Regret booking this hotel
Overpriced. The hotel is not 4 stars, only rated as 3 stars. Breakfast and afternoon tea were bad. WI-FI not stable, staff needed to change passwords several times. Traffic noise was annoying sometimes as the windows were not sound proof. I did not understand why this hotel got all good reviews. I regret booking this hotel because of those good reviews, as it costs double than other 4 stars hotels. My wife has bedbug bites during our stay. We will not recommend this hotel at all.

Stunning Conversion and Beautiful Hotel
This is by no doubt and amazing old renovated building that oozes character out of ever nook and cranny. Being an artist who works in glass I loved the stained glass aspects of every room and the whole operation is very classy. The lap pool is tiny but just ideal for a quick dip to freshen up after slogging the streets of Penang and the location is ideal for Chulia street, restaurants etc. The hotel also offers a few surprises like a free galss of wine every day between 5:30- 7:00, OK its tiny but a nice touch. The only downside we found is that being an old converted building (a taxi driver told us the architect who designed the conversion also designed the Petronus Towers in KL!!) the airconditioning unfortunately doesnot work very well. In our first room it hardly moved the air at all and wasn't even cold. After two complaints we were 'upgraded' but in this deluxe room sometimes the air blew freezing cold and sometimes not! Annoying when it decides to kick in at 2am and from being warmly asleep, suddenly you wake up with hyperthermia! All in all a fabulous hotel, shame about the aircon

7am breakfast, only 1 person is working and not quite ready to serve your guests. Coffee machine not working and no one to ask. No one is there. The bread is straight out from the fridge. The location is next to a motorcycle shop. Very noise when they are testing their customers bike. Room is clean.

Super cute, but the hardest mattresses ever
This hotel is *super* cute, and the breakfast spreads were quite good (I've had better, but those were pretty extreme). The location is great for walking around downtown. Note that the Transfer rooms require walking up two flights of stairs. The wifi speed was good, but maxed out on three devices. The second day there wasn't a lot of hot water for some reason. Check-in was a bit slow, but not unreasonably so. My biggest problem was that the beds were *super* hard. While I hope to visit Penang again, I won't be staying at this hotel just because of the mattresses, they were that bad. It was practically just a 1-inch layer of foam on top of a box-spring, it was that hard. Unfortunately hard mattresses are sort of a southeast asian thing so I am not sure other places will be much better either.
