Decent budget hotel
Let me preface by saying I travel solo and am definitely in the budget category. A shared bathroom and shower is totally fine by me! While the Kelvin Hotel is a little weather-beaten, the price, location, and overall quality is solid. The common areas are clean and well-kept. The room itself was very small but fine for me. Room with a view but no air circulation even with the window wide open. I had a single bed, linens and pillow were well used but crisp and clean. Unfortunately the mattress had seen better days (or a very large former guest); it was medium firmness but sagged in the middle. My single room included a common toilet and shower, both of which were acceptable but the shower stalls and faucet heads could use a better cleaning and a general upgrade. The hotel staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Breakfast was cooked to order (fantastic for a budget hotel!!!) for each individual.

Kelvin Hotel Stay
We were 3 adults from the same family so room was great because we wanted 3 proper beds not sofa beds or trundle beds. Great location - restaurants and sights all just outside or within short walking distance Parking a bit of a pain. You need lots of change 80p for first hour and £1.2 after that max 3 hours And you have to pay til 10pm and from 8am which is a bit annoying. Staff great,, room ready and tidy. An old building so a bit creaky in places but magnificent in others.. Bathroom was OK, if a bit tired and it was tricky to get the water temp right. Typical of old hotels I guess Breakfast was cereal, toast and English Breakfast only. So a bit unexciting if you don't want traditional breakfast but we did so it was fine. But £110 for 3 adults incl breakfast, with great location was everything we needed.

Good hotel for short stay
The receptionist was friendly and gave us a warm welcome. She tried to help us as much as she could. The location is not close to the center, but is a good spot if you need public transport. It was quiet at night. However, the walls do not block sounds, like flushing a toilet of other rooms, which might be annoying for some people. We had the en-suite room, which had room for four persons. The bed are large and comfy. I addressed an issue with the toilet to the receptionist, which she took serious and presumably will fix for the next person. We had a good experience in this hotel!

Pleasant staff
tge best thing about the hotel was the staff. Everyone from the front desk to the kitchen staff was attentive and kind. We had a few special requests and there was nothing that wasn’t possible. We had a problem with a room we got initially but they found a solution pretty fast. The building is from 1870 and understandably it is not in the perfect condition. Yet, the rooms are neat and clean. The bathroom and showers are shared and rooms are quite small, but all in all it not much of inconvenience. All in all we had a very pleasant experience.

Helpful accommodating staff uncomfortable rooms
Tricky to park and rather tiring finding suitable leagal place ! Rooms very small. We were put in a tiny double down in a dark basement which resembled a rabbit warren as rooms divided into tiny compartments hardly big enough to sleep 2 people comfortably. Rooms furnished with very cheap furnishings including mattress which was therefore very hard and uncomfortable !! Equally cheap pillows which were hard as rocks !
