Perfect location!
Overall, a very nice stay and the perfect location for what we needed. Great breakfast too! Just two small things to point out: the radiator in the bathroom was not working. And hot chocolate as an alternative to tea and coffee would have been appreciated!

Good value for money
Very comfortable B&B in a good location. When we checked in the gentleman at the bar who received us admitted to being quite new to the pub. He however was welcoming and very efficient at checking us in and showing us to our room. My wife was delighted with the size of the room and we had a nice view overlooking the rear garden (away from any road noise at the front). Cooked breakfast was very nice on a good sized plate. However a small improvement could be milk jugs on each table, rather than having to fill my coffee with milk from the communal cereal milk jug. This is a historic building, so a very old school, traditional B&B as opposed to mod cons Premier Inn/Travelodge standard. For example we didn't see any evidence of a premises wifi. The location was perfect, I timed it as a 10 minute walk to the shops in the city centre, within the city walls and very close to The Shambles. Staff were very pleasant even though the chalk board in the bar indicated the premises were recently under new management. We were very happy with our stay and would happily look to book here again should we plan another weekend in York.

Was shocked that we had an 23.30 curfew so as myself and my mother was in york for my brothers 50th birthday we couldnt enjoy our evening as we were clock watching all the time so we didnt get locked out, the room was cold even though there was a radiator which i think all the radiator could do to be bleed and the windows were blowing a draft throw we went down for breakfast and it was so cold we sat with our coats and scarfs on the two staff members we met were really nice and the breakfast was nice, the place is what it is for the money we paid
