Very good 8.0
Looks and tastes good, but sounds bad.
The hotel itself is well located and it is easy to get to most things on foot. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bar/breakfast is probably one of the best things about the hotel, with a lot of choice between fresh cooked breakfast, pastries, cold cuts, fruit, etc. - all quite high quality. The thing that wasn't so good was the room itself, relating to the acoustic design. The ventilation system for the room was either not working or woefully unbalanced, so squeaked/whined throughout the night with little actual airflow being delivered. This was a particular issue as the windows could not be left open due to the very high levels of traffic noise outside and the room overheated very easily (surprising as we were visiting in February). The sound insulation between the rooms is also very bad, with noise from the bathrooms being particularly prominent - taps and pipes - and also, due to the hard floor finishes, impact noise from people walking above. Overall, the hotel is OK but falls short of the design standards most budget hotels would have.

Good 6.0
Not the best
Starting with the positives the staff were friendly and the location great. Now the negatives my room clearly had damp as the bathroom smelt damp and the paint was bubbling up. The air conditioning did not work in the room making it very hot, I was told that the engineer had been called but had not turned up, there is no desk in the room just a lamp that doubles as a desk so no good for working.
