New York stay
Great hotel , expensive resort charges. Was advertised with a terrace view, but got a view out of the back. However, fantastic staff and superb breakfast

I would probably roll the dice again...
I was excited to find a 5 star in this location I hadn't tried. The room was a great size (for NYC) although the "courtyard" view was more of a large light well. The building works meant there was no access to the terrace that looked so lovely in the pictures and city view rooms were blocked by scaffold and had workmen all over them from early. Really should have said. The breakfast is self service and of reasonable quality. I will be unlikely to be rushing back... Super comfortable beds and if you are noise sensitive the "courtyard" view rooms are quiet.

Perfect location and very good hotel!

Excellent but not exceptional.
The WestHouse is centrally located and ideal as a base for sightseeing around New York. It is well positioned just a short walk from Times Square and has a subway station on the corner of the block. It is clean, the bed was very comfortable and the staff are mostly very helpful. All told, this was exactly what I would have expected for a hotel in this price bracket - excellent but not exceptional. The breakfast buffet was reasonable and the evening cocktail reception was an unexpected but nice addition to our stay with a decent choice of food and beverages on offer. I am also always a little disappointed by hotels that charge a "resort fee" - I assume this is in order to make the price seem lower than it really is. It's not hidden at all, but it does leave you with a feeling of disappointment. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a base for a short New York break.

Fair 4.0
Not a good experience
We arrived the day after the midtown power outage, and it is fair to say the Westhouse was in disarray. We have stayed before and loved the hotel, but this time there was no WiFi, no room access cards, no Expedia gold upgrades as listed, and the reception staff’s attitude even after four days was still disgraceful. Then you get the lifts. One day full of smoke with strong burning smells, another day we were trapped in the lift at floor 20 - and then they were regularly overrun by the co-owned hotel next door taking them over. The outdoor terrace was closed and now a building site (not advised anywhere) and the evening snacks (that you pay extra for) was pretty much the same EVERY day! This is listed as a small hotels of the world, and previously it was - but keep away now as it is a disorganised bad experience
