Service with a Smile!!
Our two night stay at the Marriott Marquis was so wonderful!! We were greeted with kind smiles and helpful employees at every turn, from the valet workers, such as Ashley, who checked our car in when we arrived, to Tessema, working the valet desk when we had to get something from our car. The front desk personnel were lovely and so happy! Elizabeth and the two other ladies working the concierge desk were the most delightful and helpful people, answering all of our questions and giving wonderful recommendations for bus tours and activities to do! Laura took excellent care of our room and it was so wonderful to come back to after a long day of sightseeing. Everyone seemed to love their jobs and it showed! I think the only thing that could've made the trip even better is to have a less expensive valet parking for guests of the hotel. A front desk employee did explain it was because it's 24-hour valet service that isn't offered at other garages which made a little more sense but I was in Hawaii last summer at a beach front hotel with the same service and it was around $30-$35 per day. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends, family and others and would definitely stay here again!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

The staff was a let down & they couldn't care less
After reserving our rooms online I called to check that the rooms were adjoining and had the proper amount of beds for our family. The person I spoke to confirmed this would be taken care of. The day of our arrival I called the hotel to check on the reservation as well as the adjoining rooms and beds. This person (Irmalita) immediately went into her sales pitch to upgrade us and I accepted an offer for an upper floor city view, breakfast for the family during our stay and free wifi (which was already included). 8 Hours or so later we arrived at the hotel and checked in at the time I told Irmalita we would be checking in. The people at the front desk had no records of anything and when I asked if the rooms would be adjoining I was told they would be on the same floor. After travelling all day this wasn't what I wanted to hear and especially after being so cautious with our reservations. I calmly asked the woman at the counter to do her best and asked if there were any notes at all regarding our request or the city view which was offered. We ended up with two adjoining rooms without a view. The rooms weren't bad, nothing special just a standard 300 sq. ft. hotel room. The kicker here was that the bathroom in one of the rooms wasn't cleaned and it so happened to be the only room with a bathtub. My wife and son both take baths and the tub and bathroom had pubic hairs throughout, it was bad and almost looked like some bad joke. It was late, we were tired so we went to bed.

Your Gateway to a Fantastic DC Experience
Although I’m a Marriott Rewards person, I tend to reserve rooms in Courtyards or Fairfields because my budget usually doesn’t hit Marquis level. But on the days I was reserving, I got a fantastic deal on flight and this hotel. The first thing is the location. It’s right next to the convention center for you business types, a couple blocks from some of the finest restaurants around for you foodies, and only a 25 minute walk to the National Mall for you history buffs. The hotel itself is STUNNING. The lobby is a huge atrium, brightly lit with natural light and white marble. The checkin desks are easy to find and well staffed with very helpful and welcoming hosts. Need coffee? There’s a Starbucks. Need a restaurant? There’s a few. Need a beverage? Great bar in the Washington building. The service was CRAZY GOOD. We needed early checkin, and they were thankfully able to accommodate us, and even sent up a rollaway just minutes later. When I called for an extra blanket and sewing kit, I figured those would show up when housekeeping came around. Nope. Minutes later, someone was at my door. They were booked solid so we couldn’t get late checkout, but they were able to hold our baggage free of charge so we were still able to go sightseeing in that amazing city well before our 7pm flight boarded. My only regret is that I was only staying for the weekend. There was so much more to see, and I didn’t even get to see all that was offered in the hotel itself! Will definitely stay again!

Convention Convenience
This is my second year staying at the Marriott Marquis in DC and absolutely love it! We attended a convention that was next door for the weekend. As far as convenience goes, the location was great, however, the tunnel used to get from the convention center to the hotel was closed. It would have gone a bit smoother for us if the hotel was able to let us use the tunnel, but if there were stipulations with the ongoing convention next door, I understand. The room was nice. We did run into an issue where the room I booked (suite) was not available, and they downgraded to an executive suite, which is smaller. I did go to the front desk to rectify this, as I had made the reservation 10 months in advance. They stated that the suite I booked were all taken. I asked for a price difference, as I could have gotten that same room at a cheaper rate, and they did credit my account a small difference which was nice. In the future, I would like to get the room I actually booked. Another note for people is to get a room with an atrium view if they do not want to hear the construction noises at 7 am or bring a white-noise machine. As far as services go, the restaurants, lobby bar, and M Lounge are convenient places to grab a quick bite, drink, or cocktail. I will always try to grab Lounge access from here on out as it is a nice, closed off area to refuel. I will definitely be back next year and hopefully wont run into any issues like this year as it was nearly perfect! 4 out of 5

The property was beautiful and clean. However, it did not makeup for the absolutely miserable service experience we had. Everyday we were at the front desk because something was wrong/ something was promised that we didn't receive. 1. We booked an executive suite so that my little sister could have her own powder room and have a separate space from my husband and I. We arrived and were placed in a standard room with two double beds. I am also pregnant and sleeping with another person in a double bed is miserable to start out with, let alone when you're pregnant and huge. 2. They did not reduce our rate despite us obviously having to stay in a less expensive room. "There was no way to do that." So they gave us free breakfast for our stay. 3. We arrived at breakfast to find out that only two of the three of us had free breakfast because "there wasn't a button in the computer for more than two people to receive free breakfast." 4. We were told our room would be ready at 10:30.. not the case. 5. At 4pm some other hotel guests barged into our room demanding this was in fact their room (great job again front desk people). 6. We were not even on the breakfast list for the next two days and had to go back to the front desk both days, wait in a long line for them to tell us "they were so sorry and they hoped it didn't deter us from coming back." Basically, worst hotel experience we have ever had. Especially disappointed it happened at such a nice place.
