Tricky to find but 100% worth it!
Great hotel even if it is a bit tricky to find. It's worth it! Just off a pedestrian only street filled with shops and restaurants. The Desire room was gorgeous and cleaned every day with towels replenished. Free mini bar items included water (4 bottles daily) tonic water and beer. Service was excellent.. easy to book trips with the hotel (We went to the mutianyu section of the wall for dirt cheap) all staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooftop pool was too cold for us but it was early in the day. Room service was also great... the pumpkin soup absolutely AMAZING! Daily breakfast definitely worth it too saves trying to find something western outside.. lots of choice. Would definitely recommend and return.

    Emperor Qianmen: Great location
Emperor Qianmen is in a great location although very difficult to find due to lack of signage and the fact that it is in a pedestrianised zone. The staff are very helpful and the rooms well-appointed, although furniture arrangement in Serenity room was a little annoying. The gap on the left-hand side of the large bed (between bed and wall) was narrow; almost requiring a person to walk sideways. Furthermore there was a desk/table at end of bed further restricting movement; particularly annoying if needing to go to bathroom in the night. No bedside unit/table not even for placing an alarm clock. Would want some drawer space for a stay of more than a couple of nights. Good breakfast and mini-bar included in price. Nice pool for a soak after a long day sightseeing and massage available at reasonable price. Building work going on immediately behind the hotel that started (noisily) at 6:00 a.m.on the first day of stay but not on the second.

    Convenient and clean hotel
Nice and clean hotel with friendly reception staff, close to Forbidden City and Qianmen Subway. Bathroom leaves very little privacy. The hotel is located in a newly build touristy area, which is not very authentic.

Great location with roof top bar and pool
The Emperor was perfectly situated for our couple of days to get some sightseeing and shopping done. Arriving, we just wanted to get something to eat and then go to bed, so the rooftop restaurant was perfect as we arrived 10 minutes before sunset. The price was very expensive and meant that we didn't eat there again. You can see the Tiananmen Gate was not too far away and with the renovation of the area the newly developed Hutongs with their array of shops and restaurants were really nice to just strolled in at night. The place did look like a Hollywood film set! Everything pretty much shut down by 10pm though. The breakfast was so much better than we expected and set us up for the day. Tthe only real negative I can say about the hotel was its decision to keep its room numbers as Chinese characters. As Westerners who do not speak Chinese we were asked several times a day what our room number was. We weren't able to give a reply as it doesn't have a room number only a character. Small flaw, but it did get frustrating. Hotel tip - take a photo of your room character and then you can show them that when they ask, although that didn't always resolve the issue.

    Ok
Hotel is attractive enough but failing miserably overall on the customer service front. Desperately need training on how to ensure that all clients enjoy their time their and get the most out of Beijing. Had a lovely upgrade and good breakfast.
