A truly characterful stay. Housed in a beautifully restored 1920s Art Deco building in leafy Menteng, The Hermitage strikes a rare balance – heritage grandeur paired with genuinely modern comfort. The rooms are elegant and impeccably kept, the lobby full of lovely period detail, and the rooftop delivers some of the finest views of central Jakarta. What stood out most was the service: warm, attentive and sincere, without ever feeling stiff. Breakfast was a highlight and a wonderful introduction to Indonesian flavours, and the staff went out of their way at every turn. A peaceful, refined retreat in the heart of the city – an easy five stars, and I'd return without hesitation.

Stayed 3 nights prior to an additional 2 nights with an organized tour. Some of the staff spoke English very well and were very helpful. Others struggled with language and were less able to help or serve as needed. The room was spacious and comfortable. The AC worked well and we enjoyed sitting out on the attached terrace. The fitness room was small but adequate and the pool area was pleasant and well maintained. The only Real problem we had was repeated episodes of banging the 2nd night, which went on for about 3 hours. The front desk later explained that workers were performing work in the kitchen below the rooms. Why do this at midnight until 3am? Overall, we enjoyed the stay and would recommend the hotel to others.

Every single team member we interacted with was professional, welcoming, and attentive — genuinely top-notch service throughout our stay. The room was spacious, comfortable, and well maintained, making for a very pleasant experience overall. The only area that could use improvement is the spa. It is not really a full spa facility, but rather a small room dedicated to massage treatments. Expanding and enhancing this area would significantly improve the guest experience and better align with expectations for a hotel of this standard. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would happily return in the future.
