My wife and I needed somewhere sensibly priced to stay near Bournemouth and near the beach - just for a night. the Strand hotel really fitted the bill. The hotel is located an 8 minute walk from Boscombe beach (which is lovely, incidentally and much less crowded than Bournemouth beach 1.5 miles up the coast!) . There are marked car parking spaces for 5 cars but fairly easy free parking on the road itself. We were greeted by Rowan who showed us our room, gave us two bottles of chilled water for free and was friendly and helpful. Our room was small with a tiny en-suite shower, toilet and washbasin but there was plenty of hot water and it was spotlessly clean. The room had a double bed, two easy chairs, tea and coffee facilities, flat screen TV, hair drier, good free wi-fi, bedside tables and lamps but no desk for working. Very quiet at night. It was small but not pokey! Breakfast had a spectacular range of cereals also juices, yoghurts and toast spreads - but no hot breakfast provided. (That suited us). Tea and coffee also available. All on a help yourself basis. The guest house has a nice lounge and a small but relaxing garden too. All in all - a good place to stay for a night or two.
