Fair 4.0
Regular for 3 years, disappointed by decline
I’ve been staying here on an almost once a month basis for the last three years, sometimes twice a month, for 3/4 night stays. Over that time I’ve appreciated the price and the cleanliness of the rooms after the renovation several years ago. During my most recent stay the staff at check-in were purely mechanical and not the least bit friendly, the room light switch failed to work (or bulb was burned out), and the bed was so beat up that if I’d ever gotten such a bed previously I would’ve never stayed here again. I did not have time to report the non-working light switch to the front staff on the first day but assumed that the cleaning staff would report it. They did not. I let it go to see what would happen and after 4 days still no one had reported it despite cleaning staff entering my room and at least making the bed every day. I would conclude that the cleaning stuff can see in the dark but their inability to replace towels that they remove from the room suggests something else about their processes or how much pride they take in working here. I have stayed here on more than 40 trips and I’m disappointed by their decline into the noisy, inconsistent place they are now.

Not RNot getting rained on.ecommended
It may not be totally fair for me to review this Motel 6 because I'm not sure I've ever stayed in one before. I chose it because it was conveniently close to the airport and I came in late and was leaving early the next morning to catch another flight. Also, I assumed that since they have been around for a long time, they must keep their facilities reasonably upgraded. To say it was bare bones is a bit of an understatement, not to mention that the section of 1st street in San Jose it is located within is not a very attractive neighborhood. The sheets were wrinkled, and if they were clean and not being reused from a previous guest, they had been laundered several times too many. I actually took a bath towel and covered the pillow with it for sleeping. I did pull back the covers but slept under the small blanket I brought with me from the airplane. There is no shuttle from the airport and it cost $15 + tip for a taxi to the motel. Adding that $20 to the room rate, I could have stayed in a much nicer place. Lesson learned.

Poor 2.0
This was a bad experience.
I booked this hotel last minute so my husband and I checked in about 9 p.m. Very smooth check in we got our room keys and drove around back and up the stairs to our room. Both keys given to us did not work. Plus the lights were on in our room which was strange. I thought maybe we were given a wrong room so we walked back to the lobby and we were given another room. We walked all the way back to our room and it opened, but when I turned on the lights I could clearly see the room was used. Undone bed, trash in the bins, and used towels. I was furious. I rushed back to the lobby. I told him he gave us a dirty room. He had a line by now and had other people complaining about their rooms. We were given a third room. This third room I was able to get in and it was not previously used but the cleanliness was very poor. Walls were dirty so was the tub and table. I understand this is not some 5 star hotel, but at the very least I should be able to get a clean room the first time. It took me close to 45 minutes to finally be in a room.

Very good 8.0
Essential Needs Met
I've stayed here before and always get a rate through Expedia of about $85-$89. For that rate I find the motel acceptable. It is clean, I feel safe, the staff are very friendly and helpful. This time I stayed in Room 212. The A/C worked, but the fan isn't very adjustable. It's either turbo or super turbo. For $89/night I had a clean room, Queen size bed, towels, mini bar of soap, TV, telephone. I knew to bring my own shampoo, lotion, etc. There is no refrigerator nor microwave, no alarm clock nor coffee maker. They do have coffee available in the morning in the lobby. There is a Denny's right next door where I had breakfast and dinner. The entrance to the motel parking lot is essentially at the beginning of the on ramp to the freeway so youhave to pay attention the first time you drive there so you don't miss it. I expect to stay there again.
