Loved our fun stay at Native!
Fantastic service. Very friendly staff. Quirky and fun change of pace from traditional hotels. I was surprised how quiet the location was despite being so close to the highway. Super easy to get to all of the best beaches and restaurants. The sheets were fantastic, great beds. Grateful for the heater in Malibu's chilly nights and mornings. And the coffee was perfect in the lobby! The only thing we missed was having a pool :-(

Wonderful stay at Native!
In Malibu with family for just a few nights and so happy we stayed here! Native gives such detailed attention to everything they do and every aspect of the room. A great location and not far from Point Dume Beach - wonderful!

Native Malibu
Spent three nights here. Very minimalist approach. The bed was solid, free parking was also a plus and it was a great location to drive to and from. Price did not present a good value. It is pretty noisy at night so if you are a light sleeper beware! The shower just sprays into the restroom and even comes out into the room. The carpet in our room smelled terrible. Most likely due to the accumulation of water. The lack of in room amenities is bad. No reason not to have an iron in each room and small appliances. They didn't even have ice when we first asked for it. Didn't mind the whole no TV gig but as always make sure to read up beforehand. Overall I wouldn't stay here again and would just pony up the extra dough and stay at Calamigos Ranch instead.

Motel 6, NOT Boutique Hotel
Poor communication- was not able to check in. Lobby was closed and no one was there to speak with in person or over the phone/text. They still charged me the full amount even though I couldn’t stay there. They didn’t even offer a future stay credit- which I suggested but they simply just said “we left you a voicemail that our lobby office was closing early”. Yet they didn’t include in that voicemail any way of checking in if I didn’t receive their Vm before their lobby closed or had to check-in after their early close time. This is the first negative review I’ve ever left anywhere and it really comes down to how the situation was handled by their staff after the fact. It was like “too bad, so sad”. It was almost like I was talking to a robot that kept referring to their policy and couldn’t make exceptions. I’d expect this from a corporate chain hotel not from a “boutique” hotel.
