Ideal for visiting parliament and museums
Excellent hotel situated near the parliament building. 5 minute taxi ride from shopping centre in Canberra. The hotel was very good value fir money and was spotlessly clean The only issue I can raise is that the room attendants were not very precise when they replenished the toiletries and coffee eg no soap in bathroom if my friends in room 344 fir both nights if their stay. We had no conditioner as additional shampoo was left instead and all the coffee was decaf. They just need to pay more attention to these details. Otherwise I would have given full marks all round.

Let down by 'suits only' mentality
The room was phenomenal. Massive with a great bathroom and huge bed and TV. The younger receptionists were both chirpy and lovely. However, the sniffy attitude of one of the staff left a bad taste, especially when he fawned over the suit that checked in after me. Simple message - suits don't pay for their own hotel rooms, and often don't even pick them - I on the other hand did. And by a quirk of fate friends visited Canberra the following week, guess where I said to avoid? Also, the hotel is huge, get a restaurant.

Great location and a nice hotel with character
Nice hotel - interesting building, large rooms and a comfy bed. I suspect the bathroom might get cold on a winters morning without the door to the main room being left open. No restaurant for bar was a little odd for me anyway, thought there are alternatives within a short walk if you don't mind that. I would stay again!

A disapointing experience.
We were disapointed with the Brassey Hotel. We had not been informed that renovations were in progress, consequently we were woken at 6.30 one morning by workmen outside our ground floor room. We were also surprised that the hotel did not offer the opportunity to have breakfast. We were told to go to another neighbouring hotel to purchase breakfast. Breakfasts were expensive. As tourists we arrived in Canberra by train, A car is essential both in the town and even around the hotel. Resturants were a fifteen to twenty minute walk away. The room was comfortable, albeit dark. It could also have benefitted from a room safe.

Pleasant hotel
Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Note that there are no lifts - but staff helped with luggage. Close to bus route into town and 15 minute walk to Kingston Foreshore with lakeside shops and cafes.
