Second visit; ok but less good than before
We recently had a second stay at Urso after staying ~2 years prior. This was an ok value 5* experience, but noticeably less good compared to previously. Likely won’t stay another time. Main reasons why: - Shower supplies seemed a bit cheap, with watered down shower gel and not great shampoo - Nothing really that makes you feel special, like the best boutique hotels do - we had a relatively poorly placed room with an outside view of just a neighboring wall even though hotel didn’t feel full and we were repeat guests; there was no free water in the room until after turndown; bellboys were variable and not overly attentive and we ending up both unloaded and loading our bags into the taxis... all small things but overall gave feeling that nothing was particularly special - Gym had a broken AC, and we mentioned this to reception who said they would send someone down immediately to fix it, but they neither sent anyone to fix it nor came down themselves to explain to us that it wouldn’t be fixed. Equipment was also dirty. - Other very small things - the safe in the room was a bit worn down and had a wonky door, I noticed the reception team deep in conversation together and ignoring a guest who was trying to get their attention, etc - Also an annoying mosquito in the room. But can’t really blame the hotel for that :) A few of the elements we liked from the first visit are still the same, in particular the good lobby bar area, the interesting decor, comfortable bed.

Stay in Madrid with style
Urso Hotel & Spa is a stylish hotel in an old and beautiful former government building that was refurbished about two years ago. The location is perfect as many lovely restaurants can be found in the area. It is just a 5 min walk to Alonso Martínez metro station and reachable by taxi from Barajas airport within 15 - 30 min, depending on traffic. The reception, lobby and bar area was cozy and beautiful. The check-in was processed smoothly but the check-out took some time due to complicated guest inquiries. The rooms (standard room) are lean and noble, furnished with leather chairs and a nice and comfortable king size bed. The bathroom is pretty and features a bath tub as well as a shower. Just the light is too weak. However, avoid standard rooms on the first floor (and probably even on the 2nd). I was first given room 101 which is located exactly opposite the breakfast room door. It was quiet but a dark hole and offers a "terrible" view of an office building as well as of waste containers. Definitively a "No Go" to get such a room as a full paying guest at a pricy five star hotel. After insisting, I finally got one on the third floor which was far better. Also the gym was not state of the art (too small). To sum up: a really nice hotel but value for money was average in my view. I definitively stayed at much better five star city hotels on this planet.

Urso - 5 Star All The Way!
Just returned from a FANTASTIC stay at the Beautiful Urso Hotel. From the moment one enters this gorgeous hotel, you know you are in for a very special experience. The front door men always greet you with a smile, the front desk personnel all very welcoming, qualified and efficient. Interior design is understated, chic, lovely, serene, with high attention to detail. High end finishes throughout, from interior hallways...beautifully appointed rooms with great light, fine linens, marble bathrooms, hardwood and marble floors throughout and ample closet space. It's quite hard to find a hotel in Madrid where you can actually get a good night's rest because it's a very vibrant city. I asked for a room at the back of the hotel on the 3rd floor, and the room surpassed my critical expectations. I was able to sleep like a baby! Will be b back in Madrid in six month, and guess where I'm staying? URSO!

Very pleasant and sophisticated.
We stayed at the Urso for a week in February 2016. Madrid is a very walkable city so at the end of each day we were tired from all the walking, but we felt better knowing we were coming back to such a nice hotel. All of the staff, from the front desk people to the bellmen and the cleaning staff, were extremely friendly and warm, and our room (a junior suite) was comfortable and quiet. I particularly enjoyed the spa as well as the bar area where you can relax and grab a cocktail. The hotel is located in the Justitia neighborhood and is close to a couple of Metro stops. It's within easy walking distance of lots of tasty and inexpensive restaurants as well as cocktail bars. If we go back to Madrid we will definitely stay at the Urso again!

Great weekend
Very nice hotel and service. Truly 5 star! Only thing is that in Spain it doesn't seem to be any toilet brushes. Which is a bit weird at a hotel that cater to other cultures. Only place in the world I seen this is India. But they got a hose and high pressure water to clean the touilet with. Asked in reception about this and they promised to get one. But never did. So had to buy one myself because I think it's mandatory to be able to clean the toilet after usage. However everything else was so nice that I don't want it to impact my rating in the whole picture. Just didn't know Spanish people have lower standards than India when it comes to toilets ;)
