Hotel MyStays Nishi-Shinjuku
Great location but unbelievably small room
Even for a budget room in Tokyo, this room was unbelievably small, so much so that we could barely get our two suitcases in the room, and opening them was very difficult. There was only just space to hang 4 items on hangers and no drawers, so not really suitable for a couple on holiday. The bed was too hard for us, and our sleep was quite poor during our stay here. The room was very clean, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The area was great, fantastic for eating, transport links, amenities, but was also quiet overnight. We were able to sleep with the window open without being disturbed.

Great location
The hotel is well located in Shinjuku and for the price we found it a very good option. The room was small but as we were barely in it that didn't matter that much. The room is still very functional and has good facilities and a nice bathroom with many amenities. The hotel also provide chargers which is handy as our converters wouldn't work due to the difference in voltage to the UK plugs. Staff were very helpful and there were lots of useful maps at the reception including a one of local attractions to shinjuku and also the best ways in and out of the station which is so big you can very easily come out of he wrong one and spend 20 mins doing a lap of the station to get where you need to be. This hotel was a good base for our week in Tokyo (we looked around the city but also did Day trips to Hakone and Nikko, both of which were easily reachable from shinjuku). The hotel is basic but fine for what we needed.

Clean and convenient hotel
Stayed here for a few days as I'd previously used another My Stays hotel in Japan. The rooms are clean, beds comfy and this one had a nice sofa in it. The hotel is also less than 5-10 minutes walk from Shinjuku station so its convenient for trains and the metro around Tokyo and beyond. You can get to Shinjuku directly from Narita airport via the Narita Express. As is the norm in Japan the rooms aren't the biggest but I was barely in it long enough for this to be an issue. However, if there are 2 of you space may be an issue when it comes to suitcases etc. There were a group a 5 of us at this hotel and none of us had any complaints and the My Stays hotels are fairly standard in their offering. My only gripe about this one was that there wasn't a plug socket near the bed like in the previous one.

Comfort Hotel
Walking distance to substation but not easy to find when I first check in. A lot of food and shopping around that area. The room is small but fully equiped.
