The surrounding area was perfect and we had a lovely time in Edinburgh. However our basement apartment was accessed via steps which did not have any outside light that came on automatically. When we got back after being out for the night it was very difficult seeing where we were walking and to enter the passcode for the outside door. The double bed was also very small.

Exceptional 10.0
Very easy and comfortable option for family
Short taxi ride from Haymarket station, very easy self-check in. Nice studio apartment with modern facilities, 2 sofa beds and double bed in Caledonian studio 2. Comfortably warm once radiators turned on. Nice bathroom with good hot water shower.

Great Spot For The Centre Of Edinburgh
Great Spot For The Centre Of Edinburgh. Only drawback was room was hot as i couldnt open the old victorian windows. Great service. Hassle free and great facilities for a short stay.

Three nights in Edinburgh ,
Within walking distance of the main Edinburgh attractions, the apartment was clean and comfortable and an ideal place to stay.

Poor 2.0
Tiny, basic and like sleeping in a dormitory
This was really quite disastrous. I checked out after one night. The room, Pentland 2, is at the back of the property. There is a makeshift kitchenette which is passable, and a bedroom with en suite bathroom. The bedroom is adjoined to the other ground floor apartment by a door, which has had a freestanding wardrobe placed in front of it to hide it. Unfortunately this does nothing to soundproof the room. It felt like I was sharing the room with the young couple next door. They were not overly loud or inconsiderate, but EVERY. SINGLE. SOUND can be heard. And I really didn't want to join their amorous activities at 6.30am but I had no choice. There is no sense of being in your own space at all. To add to this the room overlooks a car park which is floodlit all night, so the room is lit up like daylight all night long, the jangling from the light fitting every time someone upstairs had the audacity to move about their room and the fact the pillows are like bricks, I couldn't stay any longer. The room was rudimentary at best, but clean with hot water. It's a pity the sink and shower can't drain quicker than the water coming out the tap (a pet hate of mine), but I could have accepted this if I'd not been paying over £100 a night for the privilege of sharing my space with other people.
