Exceptional 10.0
Vintage charm, friendly staff
If you love vintage furniture and old-world buildings, this is definitely the hotel for you. Entering my room felt like stepping back in time in the best way possible (high ceilings, big double windows, enormous bathroom with hidden toilet room). All the necessary modern amenities are there - TV, good air conditioner, wifi (password wasn’t posted in the room, but I found it in the lobby). There is no phone in the room, but I don’t think anyone uses the hotel phone these days anyway. The staff at check-in were young, energetic, and friendly (ask them to recommend a local restaurant, bar, boutique, and watch their faces light up!). It’s clear that they love their city and are eager to show it off to visitors. It is a small hotel which shares staff with the hostel next door, so you may have to be a little patient at times. They took the time to carry my bags and show me to my room, while explaining the layout of the hotel and offering advice on the city. This meant that whoever was trying to check in after me probably had to wait a little longer than at a large chain hotel. The rooftop breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had in Europe, and it comes with a lovely view and super friendly staff. It’s worth noting that the hotel is up a hill, and that Lisbon sidewalks are difficult to walk, so if you have any mobility issues you may want to take a cab to and from the hotel (their were plenty of taxis out front). Great hotel overall.

Good 6.0
Located in bairro alto, but...
We had a small double room for 3 nights. The carpet in the room was dirty all 3 nights. It was incredibly cold in the room (no possibility to heat), furthermore loud because of exhaust air outside and old stairs. On our first day, there was an awesome frindly singing woman in the breakfast room and everything was perfect. Day 2-3 were some other guys and they didn‘t reach the level (heating system off on top roof terrace, coffee machine didn‘t work, fuits and vegetables missing). People at the reception were not really friendly, maybe in bad mood? If you like to have information about the city, you‘d better go to the tourist office. ...a new painting would upgrade the room.

Poor 2.0
They bill themselves as "Not Quite a Hotel", but better than a hostel, which is a grand overstatement. The suite we had (# 1.4) was some of the worst accommodation we have ever experienced for the price we paid ($300 CAD/nt). It did not look anything like the photos on the website, and was not "bohemian and palatial" in any sense of the word. Our suite was brown, dark, dingy, with a ripped couch. The suite was under-maintained and I would be surprised if the bathroom floor and baseboards had been washed in the the past year. We were completely disappointed with our stay.

Nice hotel in a great position
The Hotel is really cute: it’s cozy and clean, the staff is always ready to help and give information and advice. They serve a great breakfast and the waitresses are very nice: since the day I told them about my allergy to kiwi they worried about me and I got fresh fruit served to my table every morning. The position is great: it’s in the Barrio Alto, one of the liveliest areas at night, full of restaurants and bars. It’s less than 10 minuets walking from Praça do Rossio and you can easily reach from there 2 metro station (Rossio and Baixa Chiado). I really advice for this hotel. They also have a bar and restaurant.

Great location but noisy
The hotel was in a great location, lots of restaurants near by and an easy walk to the centre. The room was lovely and kept a European feel, but our room was noisy. We got all the people walking past from the restaurant and bar upstairs which woke us up nearly every night. If you go for a small double (which is still huge) I think this is something you have to expect at the hotel. If I was aware when booking, I would have paid for a bigger room. Both restaurants in the hotel appear fancy but whe eating at the decadent although everything was well cooked both meals lacked sauce.
