Lovely welcoming hotel, staff were wonderful and very helpful, warm and cosy atmosphere. On the down side, the food was poor, extremely expensive for what you were served. The first evening I had halibut which I really love. It was overcooked and extremely salty. Breakfast, my husband loves scrambled eggs and salmon but he doesn't like his scrambled eggs wet. Asked for them to be cooked firm, came out sloppy, sent them back cam out brown and crispy.

Considering the prize we paid in January, and knowing that there are restrictions and closures (Spa) at the time of travel (end of August), we still had high expectations. The staff was indeed super-polite, the dinner/breakfast excellent (as one would expect), but the whole atmosphere was tainted by bizarre restrictions (like we had to ask for fresh towels and the room to be made, as some patrons had requested that no-one enters their empty room). I'm an NHS consultant myself, and have to deal with a lot of bizarre regulations of how to do things, drawn up by administrators working from home. Unfortunately, during our one week holiday this year, I had to be told by the general manager that these restrictions are "safety measures", and that he refused to refund the 15% difference in VAT. Considering the 6 nights we spend there, this did amount to quite a large sum. I would have considered it as an appropriate compensation for closure of the SPA and swimming pool as well as restricted service, but was told that it was at the discretion of management to pass it on to the patrons. In general, the Hotel appears to have quite a healthy profit margin for what they "offer". In January, they offered 1 hour of falconry experience for the 6 of us at the cost of £950. I don't know what the cut of the hotel was for this, but we booked directly with who charged us £300 for 3 hours, which was an experience of a lifetime.

I have stayed at this hotel several years ago and the experience was fantastic. This time however the experience was extremely disappointing. The staff, particularly in the dinning room were extremely inexperienced, food service was slow, the waitress poured tea over our table, gave the wrong order to the wrong person and much more. The catering manager did not appear to be in control and gave us very little confidence. The food however, was very good. We had to queue at breakfast for glasses and cereal, not automatically topped up. Not what you expect from a 4 or 5 star hotel. I also think the spa facilities are very tired and requires investment to update. I would not recommend this hotel, given the price being asked.

Beautiful Grounds and Hotel
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the hotel was undergoing renovation and it caused some disruption to our service. Spa treatment was a big disappointment. I’d recommend staying at the hotel though. The grounds were lovely but I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the summer time!!

Enjoyable short trip
Lovely place for a one night trip. Room very spacious and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Log fires dotted around the hotel give a great atmosphere in the winter. Good activities with The pool and indoor tennis court.

Unique location with wonderful food
We had a wonderful 4 days at the isle of Eriska. The room with a view over the lawn was beautiful and comfortable. Beautiful island with lovely walks along the shoreline with amazing views. The food was excellent, beautiful breakfast with quality ingredients and options, very helpful and friendly staff, nothing was too difficult for them. We had the a carte dinner on our last evening and it was excellent. The lounges were very comfortable and the staff kindly put the log fires on for us whenever we were there. A few minor points to improve on include: - the welcome should be done in the lounge area rather than in the doorway - there should be tea and coffee facilities in the the room without having to ask for it - we only ate once at the Deck restaurant as the menu was very basic and the room had no atmosphere - our bill had 3 errors so they need to introduce a better signing process each time you purchase something. Overall, we loved our stay and would come back.

Myself and my husband stayed here at the last minute while deciding to go away for the night before going back to work after new year. It’s a lovely hotel on its own island, staff were very friendly , lovely log fires in the lounge areas and if you fancy a walk around the island they provide wellies and brollies at the front door for you if the weather is not so good. There’s also a pool and spa , which we enjoyed . Breakfast was fab with lots of choice and cooked to order. We would definitely come back here.
