Quaint historic hotel in great location
Quaint historic hotel in a great location a block from the City Market. We walked all over Charleston to sightsee, delicious restaurants, and shopping galore. The lobby was under construction during our visit so the morning breakfast and evening wine & cheese was served outdoors in the courtyard. I guess a leftover from Covid, breakfast was individually bagged and the evening snack was individually plated, so you could grab and go to your room. One thing important to be aware of (I was not upon booking or arrival) is that parking is three blocks away so you have a brief time to load/unload your car and then move it and walk back.

This is a lovely historic property; staying there definitely made me feel that I was on vacation in the south. The staff was terrific—friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful but is undergoing some renovations. The staff is working around it as best they can but definitely lost some ambience as the lobby is closed. Our room had been renovated and was fantastic. Large, nice decor with a lovely bathroom. Nice amenities, towels, robe, etc. they left a basket of southern treats in our room which we greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Hotel offers complimentary wine in the evening and a continental breakfast in the AM—both of which would have been more enjoyable had the lobby been open. Neighborhood was outstanding; excellent location to enjoy the city from. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, needs better parking
Nice classic hotel. Lobby was undergoing renovation, which is reason for low rating for condition. Excellent location. Parking was several blocks away and very inconvenient.
