Poor 2.0
Upon arrival at 11pm I was informed the hotel was overbooked and outsourced to another hotel. This was made even more frustrating given the fact I had called at 9pm whilst en route to the hotel. I had spoken to reception and informed them that I would be arriving around 11pm and checked to see if this would cause any problems, they took my name and confirmed this would not cause any issues. Given they knew I was en route and confirmed that everything was ok it was frustrating to be left waiting for 40 minutes when I got to the hotel whilst they outsourced me to another hotel and I waited for my taxi to transfer me there. Given my previous call the least that could have been done was to have a hotel ready for me to stay at when I arrived. This in turn meant by the time I got to my alternative hotel and settled led to a disrupted night sleep after an already 5 hour journey. This was not my first issue with the Village hotel in Edinburgh as on my previous 2 visits the restaurant was closed due to staffing issues, part of the appeal of village hotels is that they provide everything under one roof, useful in the Edinburgh hotel as options to dine alternatively around there are little to none. I frequently stay at Village hotels around the country and have never encountered any issues whereas the Edinburgh hotel seems unable to facilitate a stay without an issue one way or another.

Exceptional 10.0
Will visit again
After reading some of the trip advisor reviews I was a bit worried about my stay here. However, from what we saw of the hotel I have absolutely no complaints. The room was great; a very comfy bed, amazing shower, great choice of tv channels, a coffee machine and plenty of space for our things with plenty of hangers for clothes. The chair and desk in front of the mirror were handy also. Check in was painless and welcoming, everywhere was clean too. Breakfast was ok, the small selection was tasty and we were offered fresh poached or fried eggs. We didn’t use the gym, pool or sauna so can’t comment on that. There’s a bus stop right outside the hotel to get you into town or you can phone a taxi from the phone in your room. I can’t recommend this hotel enough

Okay stay
Nice hotel, thanks to we had a unsettled stay, when we finally got a room it was nice but the sheets were torn and the beds where constantly moving on every turn. Staff were lovley and helpful however, but could do with communicating as we received a bill despite being paid in full.

Another quality village experience
It was my first time visiting the village hotel in Edinburgh, I deliver training courses at various locations around the UK and a village hotel is normally our preferred venue. Staff are brilliant as always, well informed and polite. Hotel was clean and well maintained. Bar and restaurant was the usual good village standard. Only negative about my stay was that a few other guests ruin it for everyone else by being noisy etc. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed myself in Edinburgh.
