From the moment I arrived until I reluctantly had to leave, my stay at the Indigo Inn was perfect. This is not a fancy hotel or inn; however, it's a perfect place to stay if you're on a budget and want to be right in the thick of things in downtown Charleston. My room was plenty big, practically a walk in closet, new and VERY clean bathroom. Super comfy bed and pillows. Did I mention CLEAN? The staff was beyond welcoming and friendly. Every person I encountered was so nice. Shout out to Brian at the front desk - every hotel in town should have one of him - so knowledgable about things to do and see and happy to offer suggestions and directions. I arrived early and he allowed me to check in early. Was leaving well past checkout and I got a little extra time in my room after a morning tour and they stored my bag for the remainder of the day. Wine and cheese each afternoon was just right - not too much and enough to get thru to dinner if eating later. Coffee, tea, cool drinks all day a really nice touch! The location is perfect for anything at all you want to do! I was there to visit my daughter at C of C and it was no more than a 10 minute walk. On a budget the Indigo Inn is an excellent choice for a stay in downtown Charleston!

Not what it appears
The location is great, just 0ne block from Meeting Street. The building is old and needs updating. The rooms are adequate, the shower is OK. There is a $16 nightly cost for parking, other locations are 'free' The wifi is OK, not great. There is 'free' breakfast which is pretty good. However, I believe they charge the $16 to cover the "free' breakfast. The Hampton Inn (updated) is a few blocks down Meeting (a 10 min walk) but the room price is under $200 with 'free' parking and a great breakfast. If you really want to stay at the Indigo - talk to the manager who has dropped the room price and the $16 parking charge to be competitive. Do not go through any booking service - talk directly to the Inn Manager.

The Indigo Inn was in a great location...just steps to City Market! The front desk staff, the bell man and all the housekeeping staff were very friendly. The breakfast was just ok with not much variety, but I think Charleston really wants you to eat in their restaurants. The room was super small but clean. We would probably stay here again, but we prefer a place with a little more room in the lobby and somewhere to sit other than in the room. The courtyard was really pretty but when we were there it was a heatwave and we couldn’t really enjoy it, but that wasn’t The Indigo Inn’s fault. Overall, it’s a good place to stay if you aren’t spending a lot of time in your room.

Pleasant hotel, in the middle of everything
This is an older hotel in the heart of Charleston, SC. The front desk check in was very friendly and helpful and it was nice to have help to my room with my bags. They also had a happy hour snack in the lobby with cheese, fruit and wine. Very nice after a long drive. The rooms were very large and clean. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but I am sure fine for many. The only negative was it was extremely hot in Charleston and the air conditioner could not cool the room as much as I like for sleeping. There was a nice ceiling fan above the bed that helped a lot. I was only there one night, so not a huge deal. Otherwise a very pleasant stay and I look forward to returning to stay again.

A lot of character, the decor was neat, out room was a little quirky and Asian themed which I don’t know if that made sense for the history of Charleston? Tight area for breakfast and the staff made it more awkward during the process though they keep the area nice and clean. The breakfast was so so, the boiled eggs I could barely eat they were so bad. They did have a hot dish which was nice. Everything was really clean and quiet and you can’t beat the location, quick walk to the market and main shopping area. Parking was easy
