Worst hotel stay ever, extremely rude staff
One of the worst hotel stays I have ever had. The location is great, beds are comfortable and rooms are decent. Nice addition with Hermes products in the bathroom. that's all positives. What mainly brought down our experience were the reception staff who were incredibly rude. Constant carnage in reception with massive queues. We could not get two keys to our room as they were "out of keys", no apologies or offer to bring another one up once sorted but just a rude "maybe if you come back tomorrow we will have one". The one key we got also stopped working twice during a three night stay. One night when we got back there was someone in the room, no sign or cleaning trolley outside. Room service was slow and forgot to bring up half the order (despite these items being on the receipt), and instead brought additional items and tried to charge us for this. The room service staff then promised to sort this bill out but when checking out this had not been sorted and the gentleman in reception kindly informed us that "this is not his problem"... This is not a 5* establishment and management should seriously consider giving staff some training in basic customer service. If you are going to London, same your time and money and stay somewhere else!

Great hotel in a cool location!
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel for my Fiancé's 30th Birthday! From the moment we arrived in Reception, we were greeted with a very warm welcome and a cool glass of pink prosecco! The guy who checked us in, Ricky, was very charming and friendly. He informed us that we had been upgraded to a junior suite and our room would be ready in we were offered another glass of prosecco whilst we waited - WIN! They offered to take our bags to the room and we felt they just couldn't do enough for us! On arrival to our suite, the hotel had decorated our room with balloons, two yummy chocolate brownies on a plate which read "Happy 30th Birthday" and very sweet rose petals on the bed - it was such a lovely surprise and I'm very grateful to the hotel for the added extras as I wanted my fiancé's birthday to be special, and it was! The bed was HUGE and SO comfortable, we had a great nights sleep - the rainfall shower in the bathroom was amazing - the spa facilities were very clean and inviting. Would love to have a treatment next time! We ordered room service for breakfast; a continental and full English. The food was great and the selection of pastries and condiments was plentiful. It was so nice to eat in the comfort of our room and enjoy it a bit longer before check out. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to all our friends - the service we received was fantastic and far greater than the cost of our room - all in all, a perfect stay for couples!

Good 6.0
so so
This hotel is ok, but not great. It had some nice aspects (free coffee in the room, a gym, relatively quiet, conveniently located to Old Street station) but it didn't feel particularly cozy or well thought out. There's the harsh, cold lighting in the halls or bathroom; and the room controls are a bit cumbersome to use (there's a button to press for every single light in the room, as well as the curtains). Also the thermostat was fairly tricky to use; I set the AC to 20 degrees and the AC wouldn't stop all night - I woke up once with my teeth chattering because the room temperature had gone down to 14. It was nice to have a control for do not disturb, and the room was fairly quiet / soundproofed against other rooms. The bed was comfortable, but the duvet was way too warm; housekeeping replaced upon request the following morning. The gym was nice, but the hotel/spa area was dirty; the changing room had used flip flops and towels all over the place. The front desk and staff in general were nice enough. I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel again; it felt somewhat cheap/off and didn't live up to other five star hotels I've stayed in. But at the same time, it was almost half the price of other five stars around the time of booking. Would probably search for another hotel if I needed to stay in this area of London again.

Very good 8.0
Great hotel, lovely rooms, great location
Great hotel minutes from the heart of Tech City yet off the beaten track enough not to suffer from Shoreditch noise (and it can get very hectic at weekends). The staff are amazing, couldn't be more helpful, and the rooms are of a good standard, though if you want a great view you'll need to choose carefully as there's not much to see from many of the rooms due to tall buildings/construction. Beds are very comfortable, minibar excellent and not crazily-priced for a 5 star. One superb feature for tourists is the mobile phone provided with each room which allows you to use data without breaking the bank, if your provider back home charges a lot for that. You'll get a good night's sleep here. One slight letdown is the bar. The bar staff are great, but the design of the hotel - two entrances - creates a 'wind tunnel' effect through reception if both automatic doors happen to open at once. The bar is a goldfish bowl - glass on main street - which might be good for people-watching if the bar were arranged differently. In addition, the marble floors mean it isn't cosy, and the furniture looks a little cheap. The overall effect is poorly thought-out and below the standards of other 5 star hotels I've stayed in. It's a minor point, but if you are one of those travellers who likes nestling in a bar of an evening watching the world go by, reading or working, you'll probably end up staying in your room.

Excellent Stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Only regret is that I left my bathing suit and did not have the opportunity to shop for one so I missed out on the lovely pool and Jacuzzi. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. From the front desk to the concierge to the bartenders (especially the one who looks like John Lennon!)- everyone was great. The sleeping rooms were very comfortable (though a bit small) and well-appointed. The "Handy" local telephone that the hotel provides was wonderful; as we were able to easily get around via the nearby Old St tube station. For some reason, our cleaning staff were inconsistent with supplying towels and bathrobe but after a 5 night stay, that is the only think I can say that was not super about the hotel! Great restaurants (Jones Family Project and others), bars and 2 good jazz clubs within walking distance. A mini-grocery store that sells beer and wine is also within steps from the hotel. The area lacked shopping which we knew before selecting this property but it was very easy to get around via the tube. If you like a high-tech, boutique-like hotel where you get to know staff, this place is for you!
