A lovely birthday stay
Decided to stay here last minute as a little get away for my wife’s birthday. On arrival we was pleased to find we had been upgraded to the next level room which was a pleasant surprise. The room was nice and cosy but not too small with a very comfy bed and a lovely large walk in shower. You are also given a complimentary bottle of beer, wine and water along with some biscuits. We ate in the restaurant which was amazing and we was lucky to be there for pie night. There was a good selection even with a vegetarian pie for my wife and was very filling and tasty. I do think the price of drinks are a bit high but with great service from Julie we had a lovely evening. Breakfast in the morning was also great with both hot and cold food with plenty to choose from. All in all a great place to stay and we will probably be going back next time in the area.

Lovely experience. The food, both evening meal & breakfast, was excellent. Really gorgeous setting just on the edge of the New Forest. We look forward to going there again.

Comfortable and quite retreat
The building is a very nice large old pub. The rooms I stayed in had been renovated to a high standard. The rooms provided old world charm with modern comforts. The rooms were very clean. While the bed was comfortable the soft pillows weren’t for me. Breakfast service was prompt and the food was good quality. Drinks service in the bar in the evening was quite slow. We checked in quite late and had to wait a while at reception for a member of staff to attend. I realised this was because staff perform multiple tasks/roles so I don’t blame them for this.

The location was excellent and hotel is itselff very comfortable, we were shown to our room on arrival where we had a complimentary glass of wine and beer. The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was good, the whole stay let down only slightly by slow service.
