New owner = disgusting and false advertisement
I have previously given this hotel 4 out of 5 stars (can't remember which website). I am downgrading this rating as far low as it can go based off my last trip. I bookef and paid for my room on hotels.com. When I arrived late at night I was charged an extra $12.00 for "resort fees" for each room. What can you do when you have no where else to go? Then, I noticed my King room and the kids' double queen room were gross. They got a room that looked like people were living in it. It had a disgusting kitchennette and filthy walls, floors, etc. My room wasn't much better. I made them change all sheets, which had little hairs. The kids took that room. Still, the walls and tub was dirty (we went to Walmart to do it ourselves). The toilet did not work well. We were switched to a single Queen room from the double queen which was similar quality. They refused to compensate us for the difference in rooms. Hotel.com gave me credits for the resort fees at leadr. Also, the hallways were dirty, which they were not before, there were new employees as well. Also, I saw two different families complaining upon their check in. One because they were being charged a higher amount than was advertised for them online, and the other because their room was cancelled without their knowledge or consent, and they were not informed until they arrived there.

Very good 8.0
My wife, two Siberian Huskies and myself arrived at 6pm 4-30-2017. The area around the hotel is quiet after 10pm and the traffic during the day is not bad. This motel is old but in fair condition. Three members of the staff (TJ, Nicole and James) really impressed my wife. On 5-1-2017, the housekeeper for our room showed up to change our towels and sheets, but when she saw the dogs (very docile) she stated that she is deathly afraid of dogs. This is a pet friendly motel and the front desk knew that we were bringing two dogs. My wife was confused when the housekeeper refused to change the sheets. She did however send someone else (Nicole) to do it for her. We felt bad for Nicole because she was not assigned to our room. Nicole was very accommodating and friendly. James was also friendly and on top of it when we had problems with the room. TJ was very helpful in getting someone not afraid of dogs to our room for a sheet change when Nicole was off and also helped with receipt of medication for one of the dogs via UPS. We had to make a room change because we reserved for five nights but my business trip was extended and so the room we had was reserved by someone else before I could extend it. TJ made it possible after the two days to get us put back in the same room which is large enough for all four of us. These three people were the reason our stay was comfortable at this motel.

About what we expected
First, it's a little annoying that the motel charges a "resort fee" over and above your room rate. Resort fee? Really? It's Motel 6, not some "resort ", so I don't know what that extra charge was for. Location was perfect for us as anglers, directly across the street from the fishing pier. Exterior and common areas are a bit run down but our room was nicer. Room was very clean, however while housekeeping brought fresh towels each day, they never once made our beds during our entire stay. The AC worked very well, I actually got a little chilly at night because the "bedspread" was more like a second sheet. I wouldve preferred something a little heftier. The elevator is turned off from 11pm till 6am. This was a problem for us as we had heavy gear to haul down the steps each day at 5am. This caused my spouse to re-injured their knees. The location isn't in the best part of town but we didn't experience any issues other than another guest asking to get a ride home with us (6 hours away) claiming to live in same area we do. When we declined he hit up the next person even tho they lived in completely different state, so something was more than a little off there. We did witness people asleep in their car in the middle of the day in the parking lot on a couple different days but again, we didn't personally experience any negative problems that concerned us. Overall the place was a good buy, extremely convenient for us and about what we would expect from Motel 6.

Don't stay here!
It started off bad. The front desk "manager/employee" Bob, told me we had a $5 resort fee I still had to pay. There are no amenities. No pool, no weight room, no nothing. I ask why the resort fee? What do you have as any kind of resort amenities? I received a blank stare. Bob finally told me there was a boardwalk (pier) and I ask was it owned by the hotel? He said no. It is because the beach is a block away, it is a resort area. They had me, so I payed with a credit card so I would have a receipt. Bob's english is very bad so he had to call a young teenager (TJ) to translate what all our problems were We had a reservation for two queen beds and the first room only had one bed. Back down stairs to the front desk and I had to show my reservation for two queen beds with my phone. Second room was VERY BAD with smoke smell. I ask it this was a non-smoking room and was assured it was. It wasn't. A young man, TJ, showed up with extra towels, bathroom tissue (didn't request this, but did request facial tissue that never showed) and some kind of room deodorizer. TJ sprayed all over the room concentrating on the AC unit. It helped a little, but when I returned to our car and came back to the room the smoke smell was just as bad. I will never book at this hotel ever again. Between swindling $5 from us and having to wash everything once we came home (the smoke smell followed us on everything we owed) I would NOT recommend this to anybody.

We booked the room for 2 nights with 5 people in the room. When we arrived there was only 2 towels in the room we asked for extra and an extra blanket and was told we could not have them until the next morning. Everyone wanted to shower that evening but couldnt. The man at the front desk was extremely rude. He was watching a movie on his ipod eating chips when we went to ask for the extra towels he didnt even get up out the chair or make eye contact with us at all. The morning of check out we needed sets of towels to shower before leaving and was told it would be 30 mins until they could bring us some. Check out was at 11 they did not bring the towels until 1230 and was mad at us because we was still in the room. Not our fault your staff is rude and very unprofessional. Will never stay at this location again!
