Exceptional 10.0
I really enjoyed everything about my stay at the Toronto Garden Inn B&B. When I booked my stay, I immediately received crucial directions from the staff regarding entry to the premises and amenities. The directions were well-written and clearly laid out. The pre-authorization of my card, which was a debit card, even came back. It just took a quick call to one of the owners and it was quickly resolved. When I physically arrived at the B&B, that same owner greeted me and showed me around. We talked for a while and he had suggestions for things to see in Toronto. I really appreciated his hospitality and that his business is immigrant-owned. It made the experience even more unique for me. In the morning when I finally woke up from a wonderful night's sleep, I made my way to the kitchen and was greeted once again by the same owner. He offered me lots of food, and I opted for the bagels/English muffins, buttered up and spread with goat cheese. I added thin slices of ham on top for good measure. The fresh coffee and juice was wonderful as well. The owner even hung around with me and two other guests who were from Western Ontario, and we all had a wonderful morning chat. In the end, I would absolutely recommend Toronto Garden Inn B&B to family and friends. It is very affordable, close to a lot of tourist attractions in downtown (yet far enough from the hustle and bustle), and the staff was very attentive.

Very good 8.0
I bet staying here in the summer would be much better. They have a nice patio that I couldn’t enjoy since it was winter. I would spring for the apartment in the basement if I stay here again. Having a private bathroom and kitchenette would have been great. I only stayed for one night but multiple nights would have been better in the apt. Suite. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Very pleasant and kind. Nothing bad to say there! Free WiFi! Always a bonus. Especially since I’m from Michigan and my phone is useless without WiFi in Canada. Average walk to downtown. Easy if your even moderately active. Granted... much better in the summer I’m sure. Small things that could make a big difference I think would have been: Change out the bargain coffee. Get some fancy stuff or have a bean grinder. Small stuff like that will go a long way. Of course I’m a coffee snob. There are many local coffee place where you could get some good stuff. Walls are kinda thin but what do you want from an old house. Really not much else sugnificant. Overall a very enjoyable place to stay. I’d comeback again. And I would recommend it to others. All my best to the staff of Toronto Garden Inn. Much success in the future. 😁👍

Good 6.0
Nice, functional B&B but with some problems
I've stayed here twice. There are many things to like about the place - it's a nice old building with some charm, close to downtown, the staff (over email) are helpful and quick to reply, and the serve-yourself breakfast is a bit unexciting but good for getting out early in the morning. The rate I paid on my most recent trip is also a terrific deal relative to anything else I could find in Toronto. The main downside is the noise, both external and internal. The external part comes from the fact that the B&B is in a part of town where noise (including people yelling at each other or at the world) can be fairly constant at night, and the old walls and windows don't do much to keep it out. Internally, too, the walls are very thin, and the fact that the bathrooms are shared means that light sleepers may hear people getting up through the night. I felt fortunate to have very considerate neighbours during my stay and this wasn't actually a problem for me, but it's a risk. So I'm conflicted - many parts of my stay were great, it's a good set-up (in some ways an upscale and comfy hostel more than a B&B), the price is right, and I would likely stay there again, but I wouldn't recommend it to a friend as I wouldn't want to be responsible for them not getting any sleep.

Downtown Toronto b & b
Convenient, clean, moderately priced B & B. Some people have complained about the neighborhood in their reviews. It's old downtown Toronto, what can I say. It's safe. The Toronto Garden Inn is only 300 feet from the Shelbourne streetcar stop (Dunas Street line, 505) from which you can connect to the subway line and go easily abpout anywhere in Toronto. If you want can go all the way to the Kipling subway station and transfer to the bus "The Rocket" and continue to the airpor, all for the cost of a subway token, $3.75 or $2.10 for a senior. The Inn has 7 bedrooms and a comfortable living room and a kitchen dining area. Several people including myself were there for a convention and along with 3 couples, one from London, we became our own little family. Had a very enjoyable stay. Thank you, Miko!

Lovely bed and breakfast
My husband and I loved our stay here, and will definitely choose it again if we come back to the Toronto area. The two men who were working while we were there were both helpful and friendly. We arrived several hours before check-in, but they let us keep our things in the guest lounge so that we could explore the city. Sam gave us a map and recommended some places to go. We stayed in the Trillium room on the 3rd floor, which had a ginormous comfy bed and a beautiful private balcony, as well as a clean private bathroom. The breakfast options were great, and the staff offered to make us eggs or pancakes in addition to the self-serve options (breads, cereals, pastries, yogurt, fruit, etc.) The location was walkable to many interesting neighborhoods and attractions in Toronto.
