Lovely old Inn
Lovely old inn with lots of character. We were in the extension part. Rooms were spacious - no drawers just shelves though enough for us. Would have preferred more light at night as onlymovwrhead lights were in the bathroom and dimmed one near door - other than that there were only not very bright lamps so not great for reading. No in room fridge but we did get one brought in when we asked, same with hairdryer. No kettle and although there is coffee constantly in reception you can only get tea when staff are there between 8 and 8. Breakfast was rather limited but we had the homemade granola and it was delicious and very filling. There is no bar or evening meal service on Monday or Tuesday evening - the only local option is a small pizza place, McDonalds or Black rock steak house (think that is what it was called) fortunately this had really good food and plenty of choice so not a problem. Lovely grounds and they provide chairs so you can sit and relax or read. Good location for touring.

Fabulous stay would recommend 100%
Hartness House was amazing. The staff couldn’t help us enough went completely out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Food was excellent also. We stayed in the mansion which is fabulous. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks again for everything.

Keep on Moving...
We have been there only once before, but considered it for our wedding reception - because it was such a neat place. The Hartness history is very cool, but this visit the bed was horrible and the room didn't even have a dresser or any place to put our clothes? The restaurant onsite is very nice, small but good food and leaf peeping, cider donuts and other fall events near by are nice. But that room, yikes!

Very old, but charming! Needs a lot of work to be perfect! But we still enjoyed out stay! Breakfast was outstanding as it was delicious?

A historical gem.
The inn is under fairly new ownership and they are making strides to improve the property. The historical charm, cleanliness, and comfort out weighted the few minor things needing attention. (Loose tiles in the shower, peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling). The property is situated on 35 acres and you can wander and get a feel for the property in its heyday. We took a quick walk up the back property (trails slightly overgrown) and discovered 3 of the 7 small bridges that cross the stream on property and well as an old chimney. A tour of the underground tunnels and museum is a must for anyone staying at the property. Price was a little high for the fact that the restaurant/tavern were not open as we had hoped to have a drink in the newly redone tavern and it was a Sunday night stay but the front desk staff was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful in things to see and places to eat in the area. I would highly recommend the Inn to any historical enthusiast.
