Lovely hotel. Friendly staff, There is a steep hill if you take the wrong route up to the hotel. Always better to walk along the top road and round rather than downhill and back up for those with walking challenges

Clean, spacious rooms in an older hotel
This hotel is conveniently located at the base of Calton Hill and is within walking distance of the Royal Mile. Besides the great location, the room itself was spacious and clean. There wasn’t A/C, so we just left the window open while we were there. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a dedicated luggage room, but they let us leave our bags inside the lobby before we could check in. The room was a little dated and could use some updating, especially the bathroom. The room numbering is a little confusing. They could do a better job with signage and labeling the keys. They have an elevator, but it’s not in the greatest condition. I would stay here again as it met my needs.

I believe we had the worst room in the hotel #101, you go down into the lowest level, it smelled musty and dank and the mattress was horrific! I asked for a candle for the odor but they had nothing and offered nothing. The window opened to a very grotty, dank space.
