Relaxed atmosphere unlike other London hotels
Tucked away in courtyard area in the business area of London it offered a feel of seclusion; of which is unusual for the heart of the city. Location was a few minutes walk from Liverpool St. and with that Spitalfields for shopping, drinks etc. Also ideal for walking to the Tower Bridge area (approx 10 mins). The entrance to the hotel is discrete which is rather unusual but this sets a very welcoming environment. The staff were very friendly and helpful at the reception. The room was comfortable, as was the bed. My husband had an excellent nights sleep, however as I was running the marathon - my nights pre and post run were generally restless, but only accountable to challenge rather than the room. We found it peaceful with no noise from the corridor or fellow guests. Fabulous monsoon head shower and amazingly sumptuous towels. The room has a Nespresso coffee maker which is lovely with capsules included. However to produce hot water for a cup of tea is a bit laborious, with that the cups supplied within the rooms are more espresso and not great for a good cup of tea. Nice touch with a non-alcoholic inclusive mini-bar with water, tonic, juice etc. Breakfast was included within our deal which was good, but a little sparse with the full English - 1 cherry tomato. We also realised after that there should have some black pudding but this was absent on our plates. We would happily stay again, as the ambience is relaxed and did not feel like a hotel with super staff

Good 6.0
Style over comfort & service
Not sure I would consider this a 5-star hotel. It is beautifully decorated, and the lounge areas are especially unique. However, the rooms are extremely small. I requested a king size bed, and the reception desk made it seem like I was being upgraded somehow. But, when I got to the room, it was queen size, if even that. Small bed for 2 people. I called to confirm and they assured me it was king size (it was not). Barely any room to move around. Bathroom was tiny, and part of a light panel fell off in the middle of the night. You can tell that this was a 2 or 3-star hotel previously, and they are trying to turn it into a 5-star "boutique" hotel. Also, I requested extra pillows and bath towels, and it took asking three times throughout the day to finally get them in the evening. When they did arrive, bath floor mats were delivered instead of towels (who would ask for extra bath mats?). This place definitely has the attitude and exclusivity of a 5-star hotel, but doesn't back it up with superior service or adequate facilities. Definitely not worth the price we paid.

A hotel I was actually sad to leave.
The hotel seems to be brand new at this point. There was a Nespresso machine in the room (a HUGE plus), a free non-alcoholic minibar, WIFI was very strong and fast, power was very readily available bedside and a turndown service which is always a really nice touch. The staff I encountered were nice, professional, and the room was immaculate. The ONLY thing I can come up with as a negative is that it's a little non-obvious where the hotel is if the doorman isn't working. There are no signs, and I didn't even see the address #'s on the door anywhere. My directions would be find the BBQ place, stand with your back to it, and go up to the double doors across the pedestrian only street on the left hand side. You should see a front desk with 3 Apple iMAC looking things. Also, if you do stay here, try the BBQ place across the street, the food is stellar and the beer good.

Excellent stay with excellent service
Enjoyed the three night stay at the facility. Centrally located (near the \Liverpool Street underground station), the hotel (club) is in a square with many eateries and pubs around. Easily accessible to public transportation. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. Included breakfast was excellent, with very good service. The first time traveller may find (as we did) access by taxi a bit confusing as there is no sign of the premises. The address is the only indication and my taxi driver had difficulty finding the place, and had to leave my luggage on the curb. Fortunately the concierge (once I found the place!) was very helpful in carrying the luggage to my room. The room had complementary non alcoholic beverages and snack in the minibar. The shower was spacious and well maintained. Overall enjoyed the stay and would be happy to return

Fair 4.0
Not nearly as good as it should have been
Styling itself as “relaxed luxury, unashamedly high end”, I was looking forward to feeling refreshed by a brief pre-Christmas stay at the Devonshire Club. Unfortunately it did not pan out that way... - Complete lack of hot water to the room meant an ice-cold shower in the morning. - Noise from the bar was like line-dancing in my room until 2am. Staff were pleasant and mildly apologetic. Thank you for refunding the £5 tab, but I was expecting the response to rise slightly above the level of effectively “oh dear, poor you”. £270 for a night of very little sleep and a cold shower in mid-winter. It seems the Devonshire has sufficient captive audience in its City location to not need to deliver on its promises. The room itself was small, clean and convenient, but I’m not planning on recommending to anyone.
