Lovely Country B&B near Volcano park
We stayed for 5 days at Volcano Acres & thoroughly enjoyed Theresa & Randy's hospitality. Our room was in a separate building(a remodeled barn) and all the comforts were at our fingertips: comfortable bed, clean bathroom with plush towels (& a towel warmer!), microwave, coffee maker, fridge. There was an attached sunroom with a sofa & table that looked out over the small duck/geese pond. The grounds were entertaining with Lucy the goat, Fawn the dog, sheep, chickens and a burro to pet & feed approved snacks. Breakfast was delicious with fresh tropical fruits, baked goods, make-your-own waffles & breakfast sandwiches. I can't speak highly enough of Theresa & Randy's expert knowledge of the Big Island & especially the Volcano area. We had our wedding anniversary while staying there & a chocolate cake appeared in our room that day in celebration. You should be aware that 1) there is a rooster on site so you may need earplugs for the early morning crowing. 2) as in many locations, there are water restrictions as Volcano has no municipal water & this part of the big island has been in a drought. It's not terrible; you're requested to be conscious of running water & the sheets & towels don't get changed unless requested. We didn't mind at all. We had a wonderful time in Volcano!

Wonderful stay at Volcano Acres
Theresa and Randy were awesome hosts. The property is located less than 5 miles from the National Park gate. We stayed in the Ohia Ranch Retreat Room which was spacious, comfortable and had fantastic views of the grounds/duck pond. The room has a heater and heated mattress pads. It also included robes and slippers, umbrellas, flashlights, coffee, tea, snack bars, bottled water, juice, snorkel gear, and a cooler. The bathroom has a beautiful open shower and Jacuzzi for two, along with a towel warmer. WiFi was good, but has rural internet - sufficient for email/browsing, but don't expect to go crazy. The hosted breakfast was just as amazing. From reading previous reviews we expected their signature papaya fruit bowl - yum. During our visit, they offered built to order breakfast sandwiches with farm-fresh duck or chicken egg, ham, turkey, cheese, English muffin. They also offered waffles, boiled eggs, cheeses, yogurts, and selection of breads. One day, Randy even made a delicious bread pudding with Irish Cream sauce to put on top. Theresa and Randy are very knowledgeable about the island(s), so if you need guidance, just ask. Livestock such as goat, sheep, chicken, and duck roam the property, so it has a gated driveway. This means you will need to get out and manually open and close/latch the gate each time you want to take your rental car in/out - just part of the charm of the ranch.

Great Bed and Breakfast with wonderful hosts!
We spent three nights at the Volcano Ranch Bed and Breakfast. We originally booked the King Bed Suite, but apparently Expedia mistakenly listed that room as available on our first night stay when it was not available. The owner's fortunately had room in their bunkhouse room. We thought this was a great room. It was separate from the main house, which provided privacy, and was nicely furnished. The owner's explained the mishap and offered to move our belongings to our originally booked room the next day while we were out exploring. I expected a bit of a downgrade when moved to the King Bed Suite in the main building. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find this room to be even better than the bunkhouse room. The bathroom was beautiful with a spa tub. Both rooms were superbly furnished and all sorts of supplies were made available including bathrobes, snorkeling equipment, binoculars and guidebooks. The owners also provided a homemade folder with valuable information about nearby parks and recreation, as well as, local restaurant hours and menus. Breakfast was fantastic with local fruit and a wide variety of items available. Overall, we had a great stay at Volcano Ranch Bed and Breakfast and would recommend it to anyone!

Our stay at Volcano Acres Ranch Bed and Breakfast was outstanding! We wanted a quiet getaway where we could enjoy all the Volcano area had to offer. Our bungalow was beautifully decorated and the extra touches of propane stove, sunroom overlooking the duck pond, mini-fridge and Hawaiian music playing when we first arrived set the tone. Theresa and Randy started off each day with an impressive breakfast spread featuring papaya fruit bowls, make-your-own breakfast sandwiches, waffles, quiches and various pastries. We especially appreciated all of the great tourist suggestions. I don't think we could have had better recommendations. We hiked the Kilauea Iki Trail, drove the Crater Rim, enjoyed sunset and then night view of the glow of Kilaeau from the Jagger museum. The next day we saw sea turtles at Black Sand Beach and then did bike/hike on the Kalapana lava flow. Watching the lava spewing from the hillside and into the ocean from the outlook was spectacular! Our last day brought us to Rainbow Falls and hanging out in Hilo. Each day Theresa and Randy shared there stories and suggestions and we are so thankful that we were able to take advantage of their ideas as well as enjoy the conversations with them and the other guests. We highly recommend this B&B! Just one note. The internet is enough to check emails but not watch movies, however they do have several DVDs to view including a personal home video of the 1960 Kileaua Iki eruption which really gives you a great perspective.

A peaceful haven and a warm welcome
The B&B being located in the lush Hawaiian rain forrest, it offers all the peace and quiet you can dream of and you are just minutes away from the restaurants, small shops (and other amenities in Volcano) and the Volcanoes National Park entrance. My room was built inside the barn with a veranda offering a view on the ducks frolicking in the pond, with a simple yet elegant decoration with wood and stone helping to a warm atmosphere. I have enjoyed every minute of my 10 days stay on the ranch and it's in no small part thanks to Theresa and Randal, the owners. They are very kind, available, genuinely welcoming and keen to help you with whatever you need - that's what I imagine is the "aloha spirit". I'm sure you will enjoy your stay there too!
