Could be so much better!
In no particular order: - We requested (and got) a change of room when we found something (my wife believes that it was a bogie) on the wall. - The gym is pathetic even by hotel standards. Relatively OK on dumbells up to 30kg but otherwise cheapo equipment in a windowless basment. - Breakfast is simply not 4* standard. It's basic in variety, cheapo (again) and very salty. Wildly overpriced at £13 each. Unfortunately the Hilton round the corner doesn't let non-residents pay for breakfast there! The alarm went off midmorning. Strangely I didn't take off the 'do not disturb' sign whilst running for my life. That evening, they hadn't made the bed. Also the room keys stopped working!

Disappointing From a well-known brand
On arrival late at night, we were told the room was not available and had to be moved to another hotel in another part of the town centre. We had to then move back the following morning when we were told the room wouldn't be available until after 2pm when check-in starts. We eventually managed to get a room before 2pm but not without causing a fuss that this had wasted so much time when we only had limited time to spend in Edinburgh. The housekeeping of the hotel also did not replenish items in the bathroom properly, leaving old packets and rubbish in the bathroom (see picture attached). The coffee/sugars were also not topped up during our stay so we had to take them from the breakfast bar so that we could have teas/coffees in our room. Overall a poor experience. Would not stay here again or recommend it

Good but overpriced
Nice hotel, but overpriced. An upmarket TravelLodge. Our room was small and in the basement which was disappointing. Good breakfast though and a small gym.
