Everything we wanted!
Fantastic location and friendly, helpful staff. Walking distance to downtown, the harbour and Cascade Brewery. Rooms so spacious and had everything needed. Microwave downstairs to use. Beautiful old world charm. Breakfast outstanding and far more choices than we ever imagined. Expresso Coffee too for only $2.50. Highly recommend. Will stay there again!

Macquarie Manor was a trip back in time. Breakfast was delicious- even your jam etc could be spooned onto your bread & butter plate from a large jar. Tea was beautifully served in a Royal Albert? Country Roses design cup. The tea pot was classy. We arrived at breakfast at a busy time - only one lady was making sure all breakfast items were on the breakfast table, where it is self serve. She needed help. It seemed she was also the receptionist. She worked hard but we had to wait some time for the table to be restocked. It seemed she had to go some distance to procure more supplies. Limited car spots are available & we were fortunate to secure one. MM is very close to the city & also to the Saturday Salamanca Market, the dock area & some lovely restaurants. Don't expect a modern room - expect class & yesteryear furniture. A very pleasant stay.

Stairs a problem
Maintenance of room is not ideal. We were given a change from Room 4 to Room 17 because the number of stairs were less, but Room 17 had loose power point and HWS took ages to get warm then finally hot enough. Main street window curtains were non-existent and venetian blinds leave those in bed visible from the street, as they have not been fitted correctly. We jammed a coat along the edge of one blind so my wife could not be sighted in bed reading.Other minor room defects as well everywhere, but staff were so friendly and helpful it didn't really bother us - I just mention this so the owner can fix the defects for those who may well take exception to them. We were pleased overall to stay there again after a previous visit some years ago. Breakfast is excellent!

Poor 2.0
Booked for The heritage Building with "cosy family Lounge" with Wine Bar and Grill. There was NO BLAZING FIRE as shown in photos, as no gas connected to Hotel so lounge was cold and dark. NO LICENCE so NO BAR OR RESTAURANT never mind a GRILL !! Outside large sign saying "WINE BAR AND GRILL" NO WIFI as no connection. NO telephone, bar fridge or safe in the rooms. 20 minutes for heating to turn on. Continental breakfast served in a Freezing cold ,drab dining room. Tea bag put into mug, no teapot or saucer. We had to keep our curtains closed at all times as no privacy as the huge window looked across and into the offices of The Telstra Building.I feel I need to share this as I was deceived by the false advertising and would like to advise others to book elsewhere and stay modern with amenities. We picked this Hotel as a family friendly place with all facilities and was sadly very disappointed. Hobart itself was beautiful and I would say go visit but not stay here!

Beautiful hotel close to everything.
We arrived early to our hotel and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful facade. We did have initial concerns about the location as the hotel is situated on a busy road. Our concerns disappeared as we entered the building and realized we couldn't hear any of the traffic noise. Given we arrived early and we were asking for service prior to check in time, the staff were more than accommodating. Inside the hotel the foyer and adjoining dining and sitting rooms are updated to a modern standard and appear very cosy. Our room was large and equipped with all that we needed and was comfortable. My only nit pick is that the hot water in the shower took a very long time to come through and the bedroom did not have a window. The location of the hotel was great for our needs being a short 2 minute walk to Salamanca and Constitution Dock one way and a 5 minute walk to great eateries the other way. All in all our stay was a great experience and we will return I'm sure.
