Great place in a great location
Fantastic stay at a great, charming place in a great Old Town location. The local atmosphere was easy going and relaxing and there is lots to see and do.

An easy choice..
Perfect, easy to park in lot opposite. The antique rooms are superb quality and quiet. Breakfast is 'continental' with cinnamon scones. Again after many other breakfasts of luke warm sausages and potatoes it was very welcome. Outside Restaurant is busy with tourists (like us) so not a quiet place, but empties during the evening. The state park it is in is very good and fun to look round. Would definitely stay again.

Interesting and fun hotel.
Excellent friendly staff. The restaurant was excellent also. In the heart of Old Town. Room #11 is haunted. Room 10 and 11 have no balcony. Free parking for hotel guests.

Wrong Fit for my needs
It was not what I was looking for, except for price relative to others. It was the last night of my stay in San Diego and I had been in La Jolla to play a tennis tournament, but wanted to be near the airport for my flight the next morning. I assumed the hotel would have a shuttle and I could return the car back that night, but it did not, even though other hotels nearby did. Also, it was more suited for a romantic couple, who had not been to the historic Old Town, which I had. It also had no elevator or service help, so I could not bring my heavy suitcase upstairs to change clothes. No TV, which I normally do not use at home, but do on the road. Sagging mattress and heat difficult to regulate. Positives: Parking was free, space was commodious, a deep tub, sufficient bandwidth for the wifi, electric outlets, lighting (although not over the bed), and I did enjoy walking to a Mexican restaurant nearby that I had tried before and had their chicken mole. The room was quaint and was more of a historic B&B, without bathrobes. I did not have time for the continental breakfast, but it looked sufficient. Summary: for a romantic couple, who had not been to this interesting tourist site, and who did not need the usual elevator or car next to a first floor room or shuttle service to the airport, it would have been a charming choice.
