Great hardware, but mechanical customer service
While our hotel stay itself was great, our experience leaving the hotel was rather disappointing. Leaving in a rush, we put all baby essentials needed on the flight into a bag (e.g. baby shoes, snack, fruits etc). We took the free shuttle from the hotel to Kowloon station, and only realized we left that bag behind when we were planning to put on shoes for the baby at Kowloon station. We called the hotel and the hotel staff confirmed the bag was at the place we boarded the shuttle. We explained it's all really important baby stuff that we need on the flight and asked if they could please pass it to the next shuttle bus to bring it over (and we will be waiting at the shuttle bus stop at Kowloon station). That hotel staff said we had 2 choices, either come back to the hotel to get it ourselves or pay the hotel service charge for someone to physically bring it over to us. We explained we did not have enough time for option 1, and the bag did not worth as much as the hotel service charge. We pleaded repeated if they could just try asking the shuttle bus driver, but the hotel staff refused, kept repeating the 2 options like robots. While I understand those two options are what's in their book and they are not obligated to go out of their way to do us a small favour, their attitude was really frustrating, being so mechanical and lacked human compassion. It ended up being a very painful flight not having anything to sooth our toddler, and very inconvenient with no shoes for her.

Very good 8.0
Great clean and modern hotel with a great view of the harbour. So pleased we got upgraded to a harbour view room and they put an amazing chocolate and hazelnut cake in the room with a card for my birthday which was very much appreciated. We were given a special breakfast rate at the hotel so other guests may find that adding breakfast on when you get there actually saves them money. Great infinity pool overlooking harbour and good spa facilities. Checking out was easy but actually getting our breakfast box was a nightmare as no one seemed to know we needed one (even though we asked when we checked in) or what they were actually doing which ended up making us rush to get to the airport. Annoying end to an otherwise great stay!

Fair 4.0
Disappointing for a 5 star hotel
Hotel itself was nice - big, modern, with nice pool & facilities and right next to the habour. Experience ruined by poor customer service and lack of personal touch for what it is meant to be a 5 star hotel. We paid extra for a room with sea view, what we got was the worst available room, on the lowest floor available, right in the corner with partial sea view (+ big office building, they probably can see through our room). We complained to the front desk after our check-in but they don’t seem to care. No other available rooms apparently, even though we checked in at 3pm, they are too busy catering on what looks to be some conference event going on at the same time. Why would they care about us single fee paying customer when they have a big corporate customers to look after..? Oh, and no porter service - you carry your bags yourselves to the room. No explanation of where the breakfast is, gym or anything about the hotel. You get your keys and go - very nice welcoming introduction! Maybe my expectation was too high...but for the amount we paid, for what they claim to be a 5 star, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I have stayed at better hotels in HK with better customer services.

Exceptional 10.0
Spatious rooms, great harbourfront hotel
I stayed in Kerry hotel for 9 nights in total. the hotel is located in Hung hum which I deliberately choose as it is less busy than tsim sha tsui but it's only 5-10 mins on a taxi, and the hotel is well located by the MTR station. Pros: overall very clean and designed to high standards and great attention to detail. The dockyard foodcourt offers great selection and reasonably priced food (thai, korean, chinese, western, indian) with great harbour view. and great gym facilities with yoga classes at 7am. Within five minute walk you are in Whampoa area with access to authentic local cuisine and very affordable, and it's a local area with few tourists, showing you a different aspect of HK. Few minor comments to polish up: 1) during check in a few tourists budged in wanting to speak to the staff member serving me, instead of telling them they are serving someone the staff responded to them which I think it's common in Asia but not really acceptable from my opinion; 2) passenger lift settings : almost everytime when the lift doors about to close the call button pushed by someone else reopens it, this is usually overwritten by the doors are half close. 3) Big bay cafe: tables are not cleared immediately after customers leaving, and one table next to us was left dirty the whole hour we were there, so looks a bit untidy. But overall I was very pleased and will definitely be back again, and recommend to my friends and family.

Exceptional 10.0
Besides the above, the hotel charges are S$290-33
Fist of all it is a 5 star hotel of the Shangri-La chain of hotels. The staff members are well trained, extremely courteous and speak English well right down to the housekeeper level. They noted my anniversary and did something additional for us. The restaurant that we ate at which is Hun Tong and Big Bay Café served up food that were culniary experiences that will always be remembered coupled with staff members who are attentive and able to read your preference from the initial orders made. We have drinks at the Red Sugar. You must do this at least once at around 7.45pm. The choices are OK but the view, especially the Symphony of Lights can be done in comfort. The Gym has a good variety of equipments and allow you a good view of Victoria Harbour. The room is spacious and the bed is very comfortable. There is free shuttle every 30 mins that will bring you to either Hong Hum MTR (where you are able to go to TST, Kowloon East and the airport express); Shangri La at TST, or Peninsula at TST. You can take the ferry at Hong Hum Ferry which is 20 m from the hotel to HongKong Island and that takes 20 minutes. You can take the bus 15 at the depot next to the hotel to Kowloon Bay. If not take the Whanpoa MTR that will bring you to Diamond Hill or Shatin
