Better contingency plan required for unhappy costu
I stayed at yha manchester for one night; as always, when it comes to hostels, yha always delivers and is a straight forward choice. The only down side is that my friend who was also staying at the yha, in another room, had a hard time with this other roomate, who was behaving very poorly ie smocking in the room, and being intimating to my friend, so he checked out at 2am, and ended up sleeping in the car, as the yha did not have any spare rooms. I don't think that this is good enough, and its not a good way to deal with an issue, as thankfully he had a car to sleep in, but if that hadn't been the case, he would've had to sleep on the street or otherwise. I'm not happy with Yha's response to his difficult situation, absolutely I think that yha should always have one spare bed, in case an emergency happens, and not be greedy.

Exceptional 10.0
I stayed two separate nights here and I realized I had just found my fave place in Manchester. I have stayed in YHA in other places, so I knew about the concept and the fact that they are good places to stay, but the big plus here in Manchester is the location. I love industrial heritage and thinking about this, the location by a canal and almost under old railway viaducts, was like coming to a heaven! And Museum of Science and Industry is basically on the other side of the street. The hostel is not located in the very centre of the city, but anyway in walking distance from the main stations. And by extra cost you get a great breakfast.

What a hostel should always be
What a hostel should be like. I thought that for 10 pounds this place was absolutely great value. 24h reception Kitchen available for users Wide common area Solid Lockers in the rooms Decent beds and clean linen Light and charging socket on every bed. They have the option of storing your luggage for free on a luggage room, or you can choose to use their self-service individually locked, paid lockers. Wifi in my room (101), first floor, was weak, but fine in the common area downstairs.

Exceptional 10.0
Great experience
The hostel has a very good location, staff are friendly and welcoming, hostel is very clean, the interior designs of rooms and entire building are very beautiful and artistic. the outside view of the quay is calming, specially in the morning. however, the only thing was it is that day was the hottest day, so room was very hot which might be the case of unexpected this type of weather to UK. Overall great experience. I do recommend.

Fair 4.0
Don’t stay here if you want to party.
Rooms are very small and stiflingly hot. The heat in the rooms is a health and safety issue as the window only opens a tiny bit and there’s no aircon or fans on site. There is a strict no noise policy which is policed! If you’re booking this for a trip with your friends then this probably isn’t the place for you. Hostel is clean and the staff are nice. Free parking is a bonus. Location is great.
