Options were limited during the NAU Family Weekend, but I found the photos somewhat misleading. The room photo is accurate, there are no amenities, but the second photo depicts a much larger, modern hotel. It is a photo of the hotel behind the motel you will actually occupy.
As far as the room goes, it was basic. No clock, no coffee maker, nothing extending comfort beyond a bed, small fridge, small microwave. The place was clean, though. I checked for bed bugs under the mattress, and I was pleased to find nothing. The sheets and towels are aged, spotted, and not soft. The noises from the Route 66 and the neighboring units are robust. One of my biggest concerns, though, was safety. You are given a traditional key (like the Bates Motel) to a door handle lock. That look can be easily opened by a credit card or screwdriver in about 3 seconds without the thief looking conspicuous. Don't leave anything of value there.
Lastly, the service was okay, but there is no housekeeping during your stay. The "lobby" hours are limited, and no clear way to find service should you need it. When I checked in, the person at the desk was nice enough, but there is not much else to say about this place.
